This qualification covers workers in a range of education settings including public and independent schools and community education settings that provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad based supervision from Kindergarten to year 10.

EmploymentProspects

Certificate III in Education Support is recognised by State Education Departments enabling you to use this qualification to obtain work as a Teacher’s Assistant. Teacher Assistants are in demand at the moment with many Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Schools advertising regularly for this position. You can also use this qualification along with the Certificate IV and Diploma to enable entry into university for the Teacher’s Degree.

Pre-Requisites

Minimum Education Year 10, must be over 18 years old (ID required), Australian Citizen or Resident and a Working with Children Check.

What’sInvolved?

This course runs 3 nights pw for 15 weeks.

WorkExperience

At the end of the course you are required to complete 90 hrs (3 weeks) work experience at a private or public Pre-Primary, Primary or Secondary School. This will be organised for you by the lecturer.

CostsandGovernmentFunding

The cost of the course is $2450 however you may be eligible for government funding which would provide either a significant reduction in course fees or even a fee free course depending on your circumstances. RecognitionofPriorLearning

If you are currently working as a Teacher’s Assistant and feel you can demonstrate the skills and knowledge of this qualification you are welcome to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL Cost $1400.
