    PACKAGED WATER TREATMENT EQUIPMENT PART 1: GENERAL

    1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

    C. Perform work in accordance with the standards of the appropriate local authority having jurisdiction.

    D. Submit proof of license to perform the work as issued by the local authority having jurisdiction.

    1.05 OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE DATA

    A. Comply with Sections 01 78 23 and 23 05 13.13.

    1.06 WARRANTY

    A. Comply with Section 01 78 36.

    B. Operate and maintain the Water Treatment Plant for a trial period of one (1) month. During this period, all parts of the plant shall be examined for function, strength, water tightness and sound performance. If any part installed or constructed by the Contractor is found faulty on testing, the part shall be rectified or replaced by new and examined again until the Engineer approves all works. All equipment, chemicals, spare parts, personnel and other requirements for testing, operating and maintaining the plant during the trial period shall be provided by the Contractor.

    1.07 AMBIENT CONDITIONS

    A. All equipments shall be designed to withstand local ambient conditions. PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

    Not Used.

    2.02 PROCESS DESCRIPTION

    A. The Plant shall be designed to produce disinfected potable water with a TDS not more than 300 mg/l and an irrigation water quality with TDS of 800 mg/l.

    B. Raw water shall be extracted from the raw water storage tank filled from the well. Boosted raw water will then be fed to the pre-treatment filtration.

    C. Water shall pass through media filters using sand and anthracite with a SDI less than 3.

    D. Dosing of filtered water by proprietary sequestrant shall then take place to inhibit the formation of fouling scales in the reject of the R.O. membrane by the inhibition of the crystalline formation.

    E. Water shall then pass through 5-micron cartridge filters to protect the R.O. membrane.

    F. Chemically conditioned water shall then be pressurized by high pressure centrifugal pump and passed to the reverse osmosis module for production of low total dissolved solid product water by reverse osmosis and discharge of concentrate reject brine water to reject brine tank.

    G. Product water shall be treated with chlorine to acceptable levels for drinking water.

    2.03 BASIS OF DESIGN

    A. The final water produced from the treatment plant shall comply with the water standards specified. Blending of filtered raw water with the R.O. product shall be permitted to give the required final water quality.

    B. The Plant shall be equipped with all interconnecting pipework and measuring gauges, together with all appropriate electrical equipment.

    C. The following treatment plant characteristics are envisaged, related to the ultimate water consumption:

    1. Water Consumption: 930 m/day.

    2. Water Use: Potable/Irrigation.

    3. Raw Water Quality: To be analyzed by the Contractor.

    4. Source Water Supply: From deep well to be determined by the Contractor.

    5. Treated water quality: TDS not more than 300 mg/l for potable water and 800 mg/l for irrigation.

    6. R.O. recovery: 75% minimum.

    2.04 DESCRIPTION OF TECHNICAL PARTS

    A. Pre-chlorination Dosing System:

    1. Reagent, Concentration: Sodium hypochlorite, 12%.

    2. Pump Type: Positive displacement.

    3. Duty: 0 6.4 LPH at 6.9 bar.

    4. Control: Manually adjusted control for stroke length and automatic start-up with the filter feed pump.

    5. Fittings: Foot valve with strainer, injection check valve, suction and injection tubing.

    6. Tank Capacity: 500 liters.

    7. Tank Material: High-density polyethylene.

    8. 1/3 HP motor solution mixer mounted on tank.

    B. Anti-scalant Dosing System:

    1. Anti-scalant solution.

    2. Pump Type: Positive displacement.

    3. Duty: 0 6.4 LPH at 6.9 bar.

    4. Control: Manually adjusted control for stroke length and automatic start-up with the filter feed pump.

    5. Fittings: Foot valve with strainer, injection check valve, suction and injection tubing.

    R. Pressure Switch Application: Suction of high-pressure pump.

    S. Flushing Valve Application: Reject bypass line.

    T. Pipework: Process and interconnecting pipework for the Water Treatment Plant shall generally be uPVC Class 5 SASO 14 with flanged joints, as described under the various sections of this Specification.

    U. Plant Wiring: Cables shall be suitably sized for the appropriate duty, PVC sheathed and extend only between the panel and the individual drives and controls.

    PART 3: EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION

    A. All work shall be executed in a first-class and workmanlike manner by workmen skilled in the trade to which they are assigned.

    B. Equipment and plant shall be seated and secured strictly in accordance with manufacturers instructions.

    C. Adequate supervision shall be provided to maintain high quality workmanship. The work shall present a neat, mechanical appearance when completed.

    3.02 NOISE AND VIBRATION

    A. All piping, equipment and system components shall be installed with the utmost precautions to prevent noise and vibration transmission.

    B. Equipment that would tend to cause noise or vibration shall be isolated with suitable vibration isolators to reduce noise or vibration transmission to buildings and /or other equipment. Piping connected to this equipment shall also be isolated.

    3.03 TRAINING

    A. Comply with Section 01 77 00.

    B. Provide instructions and training to the Owners staff for the operation and maintenance of the equipment. Provide a minimum of 5 days classroom and 5 days on the job training. Each training session shall be 4 hours long.
