sheri l. berto center B B B B

SHERI L. BERTO CENTERThe Chicago Bulls broke ground for the Sheri L. Berto Centeron Oct. 21, 1991, and less than a year later the finest facility ofits kind was up and running. The building itself is as uniqueand impressive as the individual whose name it bears.

Sheri L. Berto, who had been Bulls Chairman JerryReinsdorf’s long-time assistant, was a favorite among every-one in the organization. On Nov. 23, 1991, the entire Bullsorganization experienced a great loss when Sheri passedaway suddenly from undiagnosed internal bleeding while apatient at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

In her position as Mr. Reinsdorf’s assistant, Sheri had theopportunity to touch and brighten the lives of countlesspeople from fans to heads of state. Her wonderful senseof humor and ability to bring joy to any situation wereimmediately missed even more than her considerable professional skills.

During the remainder of the 1991-92 season, the team woreblack patches on their jerseys in memory of Sheri. When thenew training facility opened in September 1992, it wasnamed The Sheri L. Berto Center and dedicated to her mem-ory. The building continues to serve as a tribute to thecountless contributions Sheri made to the Bulls, their fansand the community, as she is still greatly missed by all whohad the pleasure of meeting her.
