EXTRA CREDIT FOR CLASS PARTICIPATION, TOP HAT MONOCLE SYSTEM
We will be offering extra credit for class participation (3 points/participating instructor) using the Top Hat Monocle system. The number and timing of in-class questions is up to each instructor. This system will enable you to use web-enabled devices to answer questions in class. Instructions for acquiring access to this system are in an announcement on the UBLearns course WEB site.
EXAM POLICIES
1. BE ON TIME. For the hourly exams, no one will be allowed to start the exam after 9:50. For the final, no one will be allowed to start the exam after 8:30AM.
2. Bring your UB picture ID to all exams. If you forget your ID, you must bring it to the Physiology office in Sherman 124 within 24 hours.
2. Missed Exams. THERE ARE NO MAKEUP EXAMS. Students may be excused from an hourly exam in the event of a major conflicte.g. an out-of-town interview for professional school. Please inform the course coordinator as soon as you know of a conflict.
If there is a last-minute emergency before an exam (e.g. illness requiring hospitalization) tell the coordinator as soon as possible and supply documentation. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT TAKE AN EXAM AND ARE NOT EXCUSED WILL GET A ZERO.
3. POINTS FOR EXCUSED EXAMS.If a student is excused from an exam, the points for that exam will be calculated from the % performance on the relevant questions of the final examination. If you miss the final exam you will receive an incomplete (I/F) for the course only if the average on the four hourly exams is equivalent to a passing grade.
4. GRADINGAll questions are multiple-choice and are worth 1 point each.Exams are machine scored. Challenges to questions will NOT be accepted. We use a statistical analysis of answers to decide if any questions should be discarded. If a question is discarded, everyone gets credit for that question. Exam answers and scores will be posted on the UBLearns site ASAP. If you feel there is an error in your grade, you must contact Dr. Baizer ([email protected]) within ONE WEEK (7 days) after grades are posted!
5. TO MINIMIZE CHEATING: Keep your answer sheet covered. Please inform one of the instructors if you suspect someone is cheating. Your comments will be kept confidential.University policy states that a person giving answers is as guilty of cheating as the person receiving answers. The ultimate penalty for cheating is dismissal from the University. No cell phones or other electronic devices allowed during exams.
