THE SAQQARA BIRD

The Saqqara Bird, as the name 1 C2, is a bird-shaped object, made of wood. It was discovered in Saqqara, Egypt in 1898 and is estimated to be more than 2200 years old. Experts and non-experts alike have 2 forwardC1 theories on its purpose. Some 3 have it asC1 being a decoration for a boat; others, as being a child’s toy. A few people have 4 suggested that it was a weapon resembling a boomerang. Many have 5 C2 that since the Bird was found in a tomb, this 6 to a sacred or ritual use and meaning. Although I would not want to 7 to conclusionsC2 too readily, this seems the most 8 C2 explanation, as the falcon had deep significance in Egyptian mythology. The most radical interpretation is that the Bird was a model for a glider-like aircraft, the 9 C2 being that the Egyptians were the first to develop the aeroplane. Interesting as this theory is, it is 10 highly C2.
