PRESIDENT’S REPORT NOVEMBER 2018

Hi !!!!!!!!!! November has improved, still dry with a bit of dust and rain to wash the dust away. This month we enjoyed yet another pleasant meeting and very successful 40th an-nual Display Day. A report is in this issue Once again, as the year nears the end, I thank greatly the excellent support from the committee and the “helping” club members throughout the year. Don’t forget to think about how you can help and support in 2019. (maybe build a light rail or something). “CONGRATULATIONS” to award trophy recipients at Display Day. WELL DONE AGAIN!!!! For 2018 Christmas luncheon on 9th December, I hope you have booked your spot? Lyn and I and the Committee, wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR in 2019. Have a safe and entertaining seasonal break. We have received report that Warren Ross and Judy Shaw, Robert’s mother, are hav-ing health problems. The Club sends its best wishes and hopefully you will get well very soon. A BIG congratulation to Howard Creamer for not only taking out "Club Person of the Year" for 2018, but also managed to have his great FJ ute chosen as "Car of the Day". None of these awards were chosen by committee, they were earned. See you later DRIVE SAFELY KEEP HOLDEN ON

2018 Annual Display Day McQuade Park, Windsor - 25th November

This display day, our 40th, is to celebrate the first and last production years for HOLDEN, 70

years for the 48-215 (FX), 65 years for the FJ series. This years also celebrates 45 years

since the beginnings of the club.

As arranged by Geoff and Howard it was for the show of 48-215 and 2 great commodores,

1 being the last produced series new car and the first of the new commodore (AWD) type.

A big THANK YOU to the local HOLDEN DEALER at WINDSOR.

Firstly, my most serious “THANK YOU” to GEOFF SMITH and HOWARD CREAMER for their

amazing organisation of the day. I could not have anything like that arranged, including the

special banner to highlight what the day was about. They also organised the b..b.q. and

refreshments. It must have been exhausting. THANKS Geoff and Howard.

I also highlight the help from Matthew Bottle for the main part of the b.b.q., the sausages

and onion, again great and tasty.

David Stephens and Howard Smith were the chefs for the day and what a sizzle they made.

Thanks must be given to four ladies who served the sausage sizzles, Pat Smith, Sue Hesse,

Helen Stephens and Irene Creamer.

Again, thanks to Peter and Sue Hesse for the help in organising the advertising and printing

requirements to promote and run the show and last but not least the general club mem-

bers for your assistance on the day setting up and cleaning up.

“WELL”

The day started in very pleasant weather and normal leaving 7.00am. Before leaving home

we received a phone call , QUIETLY “help” from Geoff. His organised start for the day was

interrupted by a small mechanical problem with the trusty ute, down in Windsor area with

a broken axle but no wheel loose. By the way he had the caravan in tow. “We will met you

Geoff”. By the time we got there, Howard had arrived and Geoff just about had the axle

problem solved, so we collected a few things and continued on to the display area.

The display started as usual, line up the cars, put up the tent, signs etc. People began to ar-

rive and settled in for the day. More and more turned up, even visitors from Maitland and

people from far and near to look at the range of cars.

Congratulations to one and all.

There were 18 members, 11 invited visitors plus a few more from Maitland. After waiting

and collecting for 12 months, our usual raffle was held and I think everyone won some-

thing, with a lot of redraws. THANK YOU.

The big thing for display day other than getting together, is the yearly awards and these
