HOW A RIVET WORKSAs the trigger is pulled, hydraulic pressure in the tool forces the piston and collet to begin

to retract (figure 5). As this action first occurs, the jaws do not retract, instead they arecontinually forced forward by the jaw spring and follower. As the collet further retracts, the jawsare pulled back away from the nose tip. As this opposing movement occurs, the cone angle in thecollet causes the jaws to close onto the rivet pintail.

Once the jaws have a firm grip on the pintail (figure 6), the pulling action on the pintail pullsthe pintail head into the core of the rivet body causing the rivet body to expand. As this movementcontinues, the pintail head reaches a certain resistance that is greater than that of the break-neck.At this point, a strong, tight joint is formed. The pintail breaks away and the rivet is set. (Figure7)

When the trigger is released, the piston, collet, jaws, jaw spring, and jaw follower arereturned forward by air pressure to their full forward position. The jaws still grip the broken pintailuntil they contact the back of the nose tip. They are then forced open and release the pintail.Vacuum (if equipped) then pulls the broken pintail out of the nose assembly.

DESCRIPTION

The GB51 pneumatic riveter is designed specifically for the most efficient installation of a wide range ofblind rivets. It will install aluminum rivets through 3/16" diameter, and through 1/8" diameter rivets in anymaterial. It weighs only 2 1/2 lbs. and can be operated in any position with one hand.

The GB51 Riveter is 7" high, has a .740 stroke and generates a minimum of 1000 lbs. of pull at 90 psi. Itoperates from 80 to 110 psi of air pressure at the tool.

GB8000 SERIESAUTO FEEDER

Gage Bilts’ 8000 series semi-automated riveting systems use a hand held pistol grip or an in-lineinstallation tool. The tool comes with a 8 foot umbilical connected to a hydraulic power unit. Thetool and power unit work cooperatively with a vibratory bowl, escapement and plc controller builtinto a base unit of 28"x16"x14". The unit automatically presents rivets to the nose tip from thefeeder with air. The rivet is then pulled into the tool via a vacuum system that also provides forthe discharge of the spent pintails. The unit requires 110 vac, 80 psi minimum, with 10 CFM ofcompressed air. This system is capable of a feed rate of 45 rivets a minute. Contact ourengineering department for specific applications. GBP585HYDRAULIC INSTALLATION TOOL

DESCRIPTION

The GBP585 is a hydraulic installation tool capable of installing 5/8" and 3/4" HP8 or standardlockbolts. It weighs just under 20 lbs. and is our most powerful hand tool. It has a 1.600" rivetsetting stroke and a rated pull load of 40,000 lbs.

The GBP585 installation tool operates on hydraulic pressure developed by the GBP940 Powerunitset at 5400-5700 psi PULL pressure and 2200-2400 psi RETURN pressure. The tool comesequipped with 24" hoses and electric cord kit complete with quick disconnects.

NOSE ASSEMBLIES ARE NOT FURNISHED WITH THE RIVETER AND MUST BE ORDEREDSEPARATELY.

GAGE BILT is now offering a new product for truck and trailer repair facilities, the GBP585MFK. It’s a low cost solution for frame repair. The GBP585MFK incorporates GAGE BILTS’ new GBP902 air operated powerunit. Just plug it into shop air and you’re ready to put in HUCK 12mm, 16mm and 20mm 10.9 metric Huck-Fit® truck framebolts. The nose for the 16mm also installs Huck HP8 5/8” framebolts in your Pete or KW. The GBP585ANT installation tool is included, as well as a 12’ hose kit. The power unit is a manual foot pedal operated hydraulic power source that delivers 5,700 psi pull and return pressure with 65 psi air pressure connected to the power unit and is adjustable for higher pressures.

DESCRIPTION

The GBP703E series are pneumatic-hydraulic tools designed specifically forthe efficient installation of a wide range ofblind rivets. They can be operated in anyposition with one hand. They have a ratedpull load of 2200 pounds with 90 psi airpressure at the air inlet.

The GBP703ESH and GBP703ESR rivetersoffer a unique “split” system providing theoperator with an ergonomic tool withreduced hand held weight, as shownbelow.

The GBP703E series riveters operate on awide range of air pressure, with 90 to 100psi providing the maximum efficiency. At90 lbs air pressure, the GBP703E seriesdoes not exceed 85 db (A) and consumes 3cfm at 20 cycles a minute.

The GBP703E series riveters are furnishedwith nose assembly 6N-743-20 and sparenose tip 10202 and follower 40307 toconvert to 4N-743-20 nose assembly.

GBP722 INSTALLATION TOOL

DESCRIPTION

The GBP722 is a pneumatic-hydraulic tool designed specifically for the efficient installation of a wide rangeof blind rivets. It weighs 5.50 lbs. and can be operated in any position with one hand. It has a .590" rivetsetting stroke and a rated pull load of 4700 pounds with 90 psi air pressure at the air inlet.

The GBP722 riveter operates on a wide range of air pressure, with 90 to 100 psi providing the maximumefficiency. At 90 lbs air pressure, the GBP722 does not exceed 85 db (A) and consumes 3 cfm at 20 cyclesa minute.

The air inlet is provided with 1/4-18 female pipe threads to accept the users air hose fitting.

DESCRIPTION

The GBP724A series are pneumatic-hydraulictools designed specifically for the efficientinstallation of a wide range of blind rivets.They can be operated in any position withone hand. They have a rated pull load of 4100pounds with 90 psi air pressure at the airinlet.

The GBP724ASH and GBP724ASR rivetersoffer a unique “split” system providing theoperator with an ergonomic tool withreduced hand held weight, as shown below.

The GBP724A series riveters operate on awide range of air pressure, with 90 to 100 psiproviding the maximum efficiency. At 90 lbsair pressure, the GBP724A series does notexceed 85 db (A) and consumes 3 cfm at 20cycles a minute.

The GBP724A series riveters are furnishedwith nose assembly 8N-743A-24 and sparenose tip 10206 to convert to 6N-743A-24.

OPTIONS

The GBP745D is a pneumatic-hydraulic tool designed specifically for the efficient installation of a wide range ofblind rivets, lockbolts and MAGNA-GRIP® fasteners. It weighs just over 7 lbs. and can be operated in any positionwith one hand. It has a .600" rivet setting stroke and a rated pull load of 6300 pounds with 90 psi air pressure atthe air inlet.

The GBP745D riveter operates on a wide range of air pressure, with 90 to 120 psi providing the maximum efficiency.At 90 lbs. air pressure, the GBP745D does not exceed 82 db (A) and consumes 6.0 cfm at 20 cycles per minute.

The air inlet is provided with 1/4-18 female pipe threads for accepting the user's air hose fitting.

Nose Assemblies that were designed for the Model 353 Installation Tool mount directly on the GBP745D withoutthe use of an adapter.

Nose Assemblies that were designed for the Model 352 Installation Tool will attach to the GBP745D with the useof the 353352 nose assembly adapter.

The GBP745TCK can be configured to meet your needs, whether you’re fixing Wabash, Great Dane, Peterbilt, Kenworth or any other brand trailer or truck. The kit includes nose assemblies to pull your fasteners, and at the heart of the system is our heavy-duty GBP745D installation tool. All of this is conveniently stored in a metal tool case.

The GBP745TCK kit comes with a nose and 2 tips to install 3/16” and 1/4” structural blind rivets in any material, a bleeder bottle, a catcher bag for pintails, a 3/16” & 1/4” Magna-Grip® nose for the hood and cab and a 3/8” C6L Huckbolt nose. An adapter is included for the noses through 1/4”.
