Job Summary
The Project Administrator will provide expert advice and support for the PI inproviding administrative support for the research project. High level administrativesupport will be provided. The post holder will manage and influence the working ofkey processes and procedures. The role is demanding and will require diplomacyand excellent time management. The post holder will work independently (i.e. withoutdirect supervision) across the project.
Initiative plus a good knowledge of general principles and standard practices inadministrative processes will be required. The post holder will need to becomefamiliar with University and College policy across a variety of areas and be able toadvise others about local implementation. He or she will work increasinglyindependently to contribute to logistical project planning on behalf of the PI and work
closely with PI to ensure effective operational administration i.e. travel arrangements,accommodation bookings and project purchases. The postholder will supportacademic conference and workshop organisation as well as the engagement withnon-academic stakeholders of the project in the UK and beyond. Furthermore, he orshe will support the projects IT presence and the production of non-academic projectpublications.
Main Details
Projects
To advise and support PI, provide base support and financial processing for theresearch projects. This may include;

Expert project Support
Contributing to logistical planning for projects and resolving logisticalproblems in absence of PI.
Provide advice and support to the PI on compliance with Universityprocedures for research projects
Contribute to logistical project planning on behalf of the PI Work closely with PI to ensure effective operational administration i.e. travel
arrangements, accommodation bookings and project purchases Support correspondence with scholars, conference and workshop
organisation. Support correspondence and engagement with non-academic stakeholders of
the project in the UK and internationally. Support project IT presence (website, blog, twitter account).
Support production of non-academic project publications.
Project Financial Processing
Raising invoices where applicable Recharging costs to the appropriate project account
Raising purchase orders Work closely with Project Managers to ensure the smooth running of travel
arrangements booking accommodation
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
Excellent Microsoft Office Skills and the ability to manipulate data.
Essential:
Proficiency in, Access, Excel, Email and the use of the internet and web basedordering systems.
Educated to A Level or equivalent experience with GCSE English and Mathematicsor equivalent.
Well developed administrative and organisational skills with attention to deadlinesand detail
Considerable administrative experience in a busy commercial or higher educationenvironment
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate (verbally and in writing)at all levels to persuade and influence staff both internal and external clients.
An ability to:
(1) use own judgement to resolve problems(2) use initiative(3) prioritise when faced with conflicting demands(4) work proactively to a high standard of accuracy, under pressure and to tightdeadlines.(6) deal calmly with frequent interruptions

Experience of the Higher Education sector in the UK
Preferable:
Experience of working with non-UK and African scholars
Experience of working with African stakeholder groups
Experience in the organisation of academic workshops and conferences
Experience in managing websites and other forms of electronic presence (non-academic publications, blog, twitter, etc.).
