• Examples: • Auto manufacturing industry (Ford, Toyota, etc.)• Processed & packaged goods industry (General Mills,

many other food companies)• Textile industry (clothing, shoes, etc.)

• **You can search for top-performing companies by industry.

• Market Capitalization (Market cap)– One way to measure a company’s size & net worth

(total worth)– Calculated by: Cost of one share X # of total shares– Higher market cap means company earns more $$

• Example:– Sony Corporation (SNE) – produces PlaySation 3– Price of one share of Sony stock = $18.71– # of Sony stocks available = about 1.04 billion– Market Cap = $19.51 billion
