Sister Stephen Bloesl & Sr. Rose Ann Behrens are celebrating their Golden Jubilee of Fifty Years of faithful ministry as Sister Servants of Christ the King. Although the community is small, their hearts are large as they continue to serve the people of the Holyland and beyond through their prayers and ministry. Sr. Rose Ann is now fully “retired” and a resident of Villa Loretto, but she continues to minister to other residents by her joyful presence, her beautiful smile and her heartfelt prayers. Sr. Stephen, a registered nurse, no longer works at Villa Loretto, but continues her healing ministry through Cristo Rey Ranch. The animals she raises and cares for are a source of joy and comfort to the residents of the nursing home as well as an important part of the respite ministry that Sister Stephen began in 1992.
We congratulate Sister Stephen and Sister Rose Ann on their fifty years of religious life. We will be celebrating them along with Sr. Jenada on October 7 at the 10:00 AM Mass at Holy Cross Church followed by a reception at the Cabaret.
Thank you to the Donald Diederich Family
for the beautiful flowers left at St. Cloud Church
after the funeral.

A Letter from Sister Jenada: July 1, 2018
Special days in our lives are celebrated with hearts
filled with gratitude. Anniversaries and Jubilee are among
those days. This year marks 60 years since I made my first
vowed commitment to God in the Congregation of the
Sisters of the Divine Savior. On August 13th, a day after my
19th birthday, I vowed poverty, consecrated celibacy and
obedience for one year. Six years later I made this
commitment to God forever. As I ponder the abundant
blessings of these years my heart is filled with over
whelming gratitude. The blessings and happiness
experienced far out weighs any sacrifices or challenges
experienced. Serving God’s people has been a privilege and
honor.
During these years I have been enriched in so many
ways. Serving as a teacher for over 30 years was a
wonderful ministry. I was then called by leadership to be
Vocation Director which involves journeying with women
as they discern their vocational call. I met many wonderful
women and witnessed several choosing to enter our
community during these 11 years. Following this ministry I
came here to the Holyland area.
Father Peter Kutch warmly welcomed me and
offered the position of Religious Education Director. For
nine years I diligently worked to create a program that was
meaningful to the children and teens. At the present time I
am privileged to serve our parish community as Pastoral
Care Minister. Every ministry has been life-giving.
Being part of an International
Congregation has expanded my horizons
in many ways. I have become keenly
aware of the needs of the poor beyond
the United States. Vocations to religious
life have been fostered in all our mission
countries. Native Sisters are now
serving their people in 29 countries. I
have had an opportunity to visit four of
these countries and have hosted a number of Sisters who
came here to the United States for a period of time. All these
experiences have enriched my life. I am personally very
proud to be part of this international family.
During these past 60 years I have had numerous
educational and spiritual opportunities. Spending nine
months studying in the Holy Land has profoundly
influenced my life. The memories of this sabbatical continue
to be very present in my heart. My love of God and His
people has deepen over these past 60 years.
The words of the Foundress of our community Theresa
Von Wullenweber, echo in my heart:
ALLELUIA for all that has been.
ALLELUIA for all that is!
ALLELUIA for all that is yet to be!
Sr. Jenada Fanetti, SDS
Congratulations
Sister Jenada on
60 years!!
Thank you for
all you do
May God continue
to bless you with
happiness and
good health!!

A Reflection on the Gospel :
July 1, 2018 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today's Gospel offers a rare framework -- a story in
a story. Most of the healing miracles are standalone
encounters. One person approaches Jesus, demonstrates
faith, and is healed. The evangelist tells the next story. This
Gospel, however, is different. Jesus is on his way to heal one
person, a young girl of twelve, and is interrupted on his
journey by "a woman afflicted with hemorrhages." She
bravely approaches Jesus in a crowd, despite being ritually
unclean from her bleeding, and stretches out to touch his
cloak. She is healed! Jesus meets her eye, confirms her faith,
and continues on to resurrect the young girl.
Reading this passage, it might be easier to identify
with one story -- the long-suffering woman or the young,
innocent girl -- and to move past the other. But here they sit
side by side. The girl is twelve. The woman has been
suffering for twelve years. For the Gospel writers, number
parallels have deep symbolic meaning.
Between the woman and the young girl, we are not
one or the other. We are both. None of us had a perfect
childhood, perfect families, or a perfect peer group. As we
endure pain, disappointment, or unmet expectations, it can
feel like a part of our childhood hopes have died. Our coping
mechanisms, social adaptations, and hidden secrets can
make us the "walking wounded" in some respects. Jesus
wants to do more than simply staunch the bleeding. His
healing hand makes dead things come alive. He awakens the
dreams that are asleep. This process requires prayer,
conversations with trusted community and spiritual mentors,
and critical looks at difficult areas of our life. However, we
can believe the words of our Lord. If we approach Jesus in
faith, believing that he wants to heal and save, we, too, will
hear his calming words spoken over the hurts of our life. "I
say to you, arise!" "Go in peace."

Please come and find out what our teens, the next generation of
leaders at our parishes, did on their Mission and catch the fire that
they have within them!
O God, you willed that the Jewish people
be free from slavery by their Egyptian captors.
You will that all people should be
free to worship you without fear and to celebrate their religious
beliefs freely,
even if they have not yet found you.
Grant that those of us who live in this great nation
will thank you daily for our freedom,
and work for the freedom of others around the world that do not yet have the freedom to practice their faith openly
and proudly.
We seek your wisdom where hatred abounds,
and ask for humility to offer our good works to others who live in fear and bondage.
We ask all this through Christ our Lord, who frees us from sin and death through the wood of the cross.
Amen.
Have a Wonderful Weekend:-)
