Committed to nation building
Adani Power Limited (APL) entered thepower sector with its rst plant in Mundra
in 2006. With initial plans to put up twounits of 330 MW, the capacity was soon
ramped up and today, Mundra has a totalinstalled capacity of 4620 MW.
The Mundra project was initiated to cater
to the power requirements of the Mundraport and SEZ. It is now, the worlds largest
single location coal based private powerplant. Mundra power plant also holds the
distinction of introducing supercriticalpower generation technology in India.
APL has three thermal power projects
under various stages of implementationtotaling to 9240 MW, of which 5940 MW
is already operational and the balance willbe operational by September 2013. Our
commitment keeps us on-course to achieveour vision of 20000 MW by 2020.
We strive to not only deliver the targeted
performance but also to raise the bar andset new industry benchmarks.

Even though Adani Group has setbenchmarks in the thermal power industr y,
there are still many more miles to go. TheAdani Group is also coming up with power
projects in Pench (2 x 660 MW), Dahej (4 x660 MW), Bhadreshwar (5 x 660 MW) and
Surguja 4 x 135 MW). Surguja project has 4CFBC based subcritical units of 135 MW each.
All these upcoming projects are in differentstages of planning and development.

Operations and maintenance (O&M) play a key rolein ensuring a smooth functioning grid and providing
reliable and uninterrupted quality power supply to ourconsumers.
By adopting supercritical technology units, energyefciency is achieved and grid blackouts are avoidedby complying to the grid code. The reservation stores
and sheds reduce equipment downtime. Installation ofstate-of-the-art emission control systems such as Flue
Gas Desulphurization, Electrostatic Precipitators , andSOx, NOx Reduction Burners etc. as well as monitoring
ambient noise, air quality, and emissions at plantlocations to aids in preservation of the local ecosystem.
For enhancing its competency, the O&M section imparts
expert training to employees along with practicingmechanised and automated housekeeping methods.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)allows emission-reduction projects in
developing countries to earn certiedemission reduction (CER) credits, each
equivalent to one tonne of CO2. These
CERs can be traded and sold, and used byindustrialised countries to a meet a part of
their emission reduction targets under theKyoto Protocol.
For any CER issuance requested in acalendar year-
(a) USD 0.10 per certied emissionreduction is issued for the rst 15,000
tonnes of CO2equivalent.
(b) USD 0.20 per certied emissionreduction is issued for any amount
in excess of 15,000 tonnes of CO2equivalent.
Clean DevelopmentMechanism
Supercritical units reduce emissionof CO
2(a green house gas) and other
pollutants by consuming less fuel/ unitof electricity generated, as compared
to subcritical units. Adani Power isthe rst power company in the world
to get a coal based thermal powerproject registered under CDM. Mundra
plants supercritical units (Unit 5 & 6)are registered under CDM (Project Ref:
2716) of United Nations FrameworkConvention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC), while Tiroda plants (Unit 1& 2) are registered under CDM (Project
Ref: 3225).
Adani Enterprises Limited Solar PVPower Project in Gujarat, India has been
issued 18,805 CERs (Certied EmissionReduction) for its CDM project activity
by the United Nations FrameworkConvention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC).

Adani Power Training and Research Institute
(APTRI) was launched to provide intensivetraining support to functions like projects,
generation, transmission, distribution,business development, techno-commercial,
nance, human resource and other services.
APTRI is a center of excellence andknowledge built on the deep, rich and
diverse experience of senior experts fromtop national and international organisations.
The institute has established industry tie-ups with several reputed training providers
to train employees on power generation, transmission and other related areas.
To take the institute to the next level,
the Central Electricity Authority (CEA)accreditation is in process. APTRI is a
permanent member of Indian Society forTraining and Development (ISTD) and is
actively associated with activities and eventsat International Association for Continuous
Education and Training (IACET), Institutionof Electrical and Electronic Engineering
(IEEE), Society for HR Management (SHRM),and Conference Internationale des Grandes
Reseaux Electriques France (CIGRE).

Power transmission
APL continues to grow at an unparalleled
pace. Our power generation capabilitieshave multiplied over the years. In order to
benet our end users, power transmissioncapabilities in the country needed to be
ramped up. Our transmission team has laidaround 5000 kms of transmission network in
less than 3 years since our inception, which isan unmatched feat in the industry.

Integrating
innovation and
efciency
High Voltage DirectCurrent (HVDC)Transmission
HVDC is a rewall against cascadingdisturbances and it improves transmission
efciency. HVDC system also requires fewertowers thereby reducing the number of
right of way issues when compared to anequivalent AC system. HVDC also enables
Controlled Power Exchange (125MW to2500MW) and aids in power transmission
and stabilisation between asynchronous ACdistribution systems. Overall, HVDC improves
the (inter- region) grid stability.
Key Achievements
First private company in India to buildHVDC system over 1000 kms with
maximum capacity of 2500MW
Second longest line in India afterTalcher Kolar
Longest earth electrode line of
approximately 187 kms at Mohindergarh
First steel structure pre-fabricated valvehall in India
First converter transformer from Siemens
India, Kalwa factory, Mumbai (11 out of 14)
Fastest Open Converter test conductedwithin 26 months of project inception
Indias fastest executed HVDC

Adani Foundation provides need basedsupport to Government Community
Centres and Primary Health Centres. The foundation runs rural clinics, holistic
health camps & mobile health carevans so that basic healthcare reaches
all. Several drives ranging from 100%sanitatio, to womens health, to nancial
support to the critically ill and needypatients, to prevention, awareness and
care for kidney stone are organised.
One of the most innovative projects is
the health card to senior citizens.
Sustainable Livelihood Development
The foundation facilitates income
generation support to marginalisedgroups, widows, shermen and women
and people with disabilities. It providessupport for drip irrigation and innovative
farming techniques. Entrepreneurialdevelopment training to women
and youth as well as employabilityenhancement through skill development
training is provided. Support to traditionalartisans and ITIs are provided as part of
the sustainable livelihood developmentprograms.
Rural Infrastructure Development
Infrastructure development has helpedin achieving our vision of improving
quality of life through basic amenitiessuch as approach roads, school rooms,
anganwadis, gardens, solar lights, medicalcentres, water tanks, and water source
development, etc. Farmers benet fromdrip irrigation and water conservation
