Now that Fall has arrived, Friday lunches are underway, a harvest supper is planned and sport activities have restarted. anks to all for the great support of the many activities in September – especially the Mayor’s Dinner, Silent Auction and the Battle of Britain Parade. Tickets were in high demand for the Sept 11th event. It was very successful again with great food (appetizers – Cheryl Woelfle; dinner – Kennedy Catering), entertainment (piper, Caleb Miller & jazz band Hep Cat Hoppers) and Tom Jeary was a most engaging guest speaker. e missing comrades tribute with WWII veterans and 530 Air Cadets, was poignant and heart-touching. We are grateful for the commitment and support of Mayor Jaworksy and the City of Waterloo, and for the many generous donors to the silent auction. e memorial service and parade for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain went very well, stopped in uptown Waterloo to sing O Canada at the Streets Open event and then advanced to the cenotaph. A massed contingent of Cadets with a flag party swelled our thinning ranks with representation from 4 Air Cadet Squadrons – 80, 121, 822, & 530. We thank 530 Havoc Squadron, Cpt. Craig Miller (121 Sqdn) for his cadet coordination efforts, and K-W veterans associations for participating. It was heartwarming to see so many cadets honouring our traditional parade and I hope this trend continues in the future. Your committees for these events have worked hard to make them a success; team members include - Larry Allenson, Chris Barker, Harvey Fry, Donna Kuehl, Carol Totzke, Vic Snowden, Peter Sumlick, Heather Setka, Dorothy Dippel, Doug Arnold, Anna May Trapp, Ev & Bob Berg, Dr. Bruce Sweet and the 404 Ladies Auxiliary. Please thank them and the many other volunteers. We were grateful for the visit of Western Region VP, Jim Scherb, to install the 2015-16 Executive on Sept 3rd. At the September General Meeting, members were advised that the Executive will be reviewing the Wing constitution and by- laws. A Volunteer Policy will be added to our by-laws to accommodate occasional volunteers/ helpers; details will be shared at meetings and in future newsletters. Sadly, we have lost more members and Wing supporters in the past few months. We send condolences to their families. We will need everyone’s support as we continue to focus on growth, cadet sponsorship and community outreach. Happy anksgiving to all. See you at the Wing. Per Ardua Ad Astra

The busiest month of the year has drawn to a close. Now that Fall has arrived, Friday lunches are underway, a harvest supper is planned and sport activities have restarted. Thanks to all for the great support of the many activities in September – especially the Mayor’s Dinner, Silent Auction and the Battle of Britain Parade. This years Poppy Campaign starts on Friday, October 30th, 2015.Our goal for this year is to match our 2014 total of $16,823.51 which was our best year ever.Richard Setka was our Star Tagger in 2014 and collected over $6,000.00 all by himself but he may not be tagging this year.Have a look at your calendar now and mark down the dates and times you would be able to tag and contact one of our committee to book your 4 hour time slots. Artist for bus of 1 RCAF Air Division alive to honour the contribution of RCAF personnel in Europe during the 1950's to the early 1970's. In April 2016, a Reunion cruise has been set up to reunite former serving members, civilian staff and dependants who had the great fortune to be part of #1 Air Division in Europe. It departs from Ft. Bomber CommandThe unveiling ceremony of the International Bomber Command Centre is scheduled for the 2nd October 2015, near Lincoln, UK. This new memorial will provide a world-class facility to serve as a point for recognition, remembrance and reconciliation. The site will incorporate a memorial to those who gave their lives whilst serving in Bomber Command and the Chadwick Centre, which will house exhibition space, education

and research facilities in which the stories of those who served, supported and suffered will be told. The 530 Havoc Squadron will continue their fund raising bottle drive in the coming year. A fund raising breakfast at the Wing is being planned for October. Sadly, Peter Pelletier, a long-serving member of the 530 Squadron

Sponsorship Committee and a Past Chair of the Committee, passed away on Friday, September 18th. He was a Deacon of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Kitchener.
