• 1. Are you content with who you are becoming?2. Do you have a quiet centre to your life?

• 3. Are your prayer life improving?• 4. Are your humility genuine?• 5. Is obedience in small matters built into

your reflexes?• 6. Do you have joy?



1. Are you content with who you are becoming?

• Your profession does not consume you as a person.

• Are you more than you do or have. • When the time comes for you to

leave your title and power, will you have anything to fill the vacuum?




As a mature person are you moving from power to wisdom;

from the offensive to being sought out?




• …Throw off your old evil nature--the old you that was a partner in your evil ways--rotten through and through, full of lust and sham. Now your attitudes and thoughts must all be constantly changing for the better. Yes, you must be a new and different person, holy and good. Clothe yourself with this new nature. (Eph. 4:22-24 Living) (See Job 22:23; Ez.18:30-32; 2 Cor. 5:17; Col. 2:11; 3:8,9; Heb 12:1; Jms. 1:21)



2. Do you have a quiet centre to your life?

• For many of us our life motto seems to be, "When in trouble, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout."

• God's word however encourages us to Be still and know that I am God. (Psa. 46:10)

• There is an important difference between the fast track and the frantic track.

• By way of contrast, Jesus quietly went about doing good.

• He had a quiet centre. A peace, which evidenced the presence of God. (See Psa. 131:2; 23:2; Isa. 30:15; 32:17)



3. Are your prayer life improving?

• Do your decisions have prayer as an integral part

• Do you make decisions out of your desires and then immerse them a sanctimonious sauce you call prayer?

• Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer…present your requests to God. (Phil. 4:6a,c) (See I Ki. 3:5; 2 Chr. 7:14; Ps. 37:4; Matt. 6:6-9; 7:7,8; 21:22; Jn. 14:13,14; 16:23,24; Jas. 5:16-18)



4. Are your humility genuine?

• There is nothing so arrogant as false humility.

• Humility is not denying the power that you have but admitting that the power comes through you, not from you.







• Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. (Phil. 2:3) (See Ps. 37:11; 131:1; Prov 11:2; 27:2; Isa 57:15; 66:2b; Jer. 45:5; Micah 6:8; Lk. 18:14; 1 Pet.5:5)






5. Is obedience in small matters built into your

reflexes?• Do you try to bargain with God or

rationalize with him? • Obedience largely determines my

relation with Christ. • Good intentions count for little.

• Obedience is the test of whether we really live 'in God' or not.

• The life of a man who professes to be living in God must bear the stamp of Christ. (I Jn. 2:5, 6 Phil Trans.) (See Prov. 19:16; 19:17; 1Jn. 5:3; Lk. 6:46)

• Joy is perfected in the full belief in the total sovereignty of God.

• Doubt dilutes joy. • Does your joy extend into your

suffering; understanding that your suffering is your maturation?

• Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

• Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (Jms. 1:2-4)

• (See Neh. 8:10; Isa.12:1-3;61:10; Rom.15:13; 2Cor 6:10)



Alarming statement• Jesus made this alarming statement in

John 14:12 to 14, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”



Jesus goes on to say …• where we are to get this unusual power. “I

will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-the Spirit of Truth…. The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things and will remind you of everything that I have said to you…. My peace I give to you…. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”



Super-divine power

• Quite frankly the reason that we do not exhibit super-divine power as business leaders is that we rely on our own strength and do not PRAY, do not ABIDE in Him, do not ask for His WISDOM, and do things on our own instead of working TOGETHER.

• So, the next time that you feel in need of His Divine presence, just turn in your Bible to John 14 to 17 and be reminded of the steps to appropriating the power of the risen Christ.



Prayer Focus• Father, In the name of Jesus, I

surrender myself to walk in the Word in the market place. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.

• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.

• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen



Learning, application and commitment: James 1: 22-25

• “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

• Do what it says. • Anyone who listens to the word but does not do

what it says is like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

• But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.” (NIV)
