Introduction

.May Allah honor him and grant him peace = ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص

The Prophet Muhammad (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: "Convey (knowledge) from me even if it is just one ayah..."

[Sahih Bukhari 3461]

The motivation for putting together this collection stemmed from the constant need that we are faced with today for people to become aware of the innate kindness, the manners, and the traits of the Prophet Muhammad, Peace be upon him.

The Prophet Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص grew up an orphan child and was soon to lose his mother at the age of six. He spent most of his time amongst the markets with his uncle or with his friends in the desert. He was the one who was always trusted and the one who often spent time in the mountains, separating himself from the physical, material world.

The Muhammad, may Peace and Blessings be upon him, before Prophethood was the same Muhammad, may Peace and Blessings be upon him, after Prophethood; only enlightened from the light and guidance of Revelation and his every-growing relationship with his Lord. The Prophet Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said

"People are like mines of gold and silver; those who were excellent in Jahiliya (during the Pre-Islamic days of ignorance) are excellent In Islam, when they develop understanding."[Sahih Muslim 6377]

Insha'Allah, God Willing, these Hadith are intended to give a general and thorough understanding of the kindness and manners

that the Prophet Muhammad, Peace be upon him, had. There are far more beautiful parts of his life that you can relate to by developing a better understanding of his life and who he is. We only hope that this collection of Hadith helps to show a better side of humanity that everyone can relate to.

"And We have not sent you except comprehensively to mankind as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. But most of the people do not know."

[Surat Saba' (Sheba) (34:28)]

“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.”

[Surat Al-'Aĥzāb (The Combined Forces) (33:21)]

Description of the Prophet Muhammad, may Peace and Blessings be upon him

1. “... It is related from Ibrahim bin Muhammad (May Allah be pleased with him) who is from the sons (grandsons of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him), that whenever Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, described the noble features of Prophet of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), he used to say:

"The Prophet of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) was neither very tall nor short, but of a medium stature among people. His hair was neither very curly nor very straight, but had a slight wave in it. He did not have a big body nor a round face, but his blessed face was slightly round (meaning he did not have a fully round face nor a fully elongated face, but in between the two). The complexion of Prophet of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) was white with redness in it. The blessed eyes of Prophet of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) were extremely black. His eyelashes were long. The joints of the body (e.g. elbows and knees etc.) were large, likewise the portion between the two shoulders was broad and fully fleshed. There was no hair (more than normal) on his body. He had a thin line of hair running from the chest to the navel. The hands and feet of Prophet of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) were fully fleshed. When he walked, he lifted his legs with vigor, as if he were descending to a low-lying place. When he addressed a person he turned his whole body towards that person. The seal of Prophethood was situated between his shoulders. He was a last of all prophets. He was the most generous and the most truthful. He was the most kind-hearted and came from a most noble family. Any person who saw him suddenly would become awe-inspired. Whosoever saw him for the first time, because of his awe-inspiring personality, would be overcome with a feeling of profound respect. Anyone who came in close contact with him, and knew his excellent character was smitten with the love of his excellent attributes. Anyone who described his noble features can only say: "I have not seen anyone like the Prophet of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) neither before nor after him."”

Simplicity of worship

2. 'A'isha (May Allah be pleased with her) said:The Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) came to me when a woman

was sitting with me. He said: “Who is she?” I said: “She is a woman who does not sleep but prays.” He said: “Do such acts which you are capable of doing. By Allah, Allah does not grow weary but you will grow weary. The religious act most pleasing to Him is one the doer of which does it continuously.”

People-centered personality

5. Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that a woman had a partial derangement in her mind, so she said. Allah's Messenger, I want something from you. He said: Mother of so and so, see on which side of the road you would like (to stand and talk) so that I may do the needful for you. He stood aside with her on the roadside until she got what she needed.

Page 16: 40 Narrations on the Kindness and Manners of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

While we were in the mosque with Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), a desert Arab came and stood up and began to urinate in the mosque. The Companions of Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: Stop, stop, but the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: Don't interrupt him; leave him alone. They left him alone, and when he finished urinating, Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) called him and said to him: These mosques are not the places meant for urine and filth, but are only for the remembrance of Allah, prayer and the recitation of the Qur'an, or Allah's Messenger said something like that. He (the narrator) said that he (the Holy Prophet) then gave orders to one of the people who brought a bucket of water and poured It over.

34. Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "While a man was walking

on his way he became extremely thirsty. He found a well, he went down into it to drink water. Upon leaving it, he saw a dog which was panting out of thirst. His tongue was lolling out and he was eating moist earth from extreme thirst. The man thought to himself: 'This dog is extremely thirsty as I was.' So he descended into the well, filled up his leather sock with water, and holding it in his teeth, climbed up and quenched the thirst of the dog. Allah appreciated his action and forgave his sins". The Companions asked: "Shall we be rewarded for showing kindness to the animals also?" He (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "A reward is given in connection with every living creature".

Defining a believer

35. It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him):

A fornicator who fornicates is not a believer as long as he commits fornication, and no one who steals is a believer as long as he commits theft, and no one who drinks wine is a believer as long as he drinks it, and repentance may be accepted after that.

A family man

36. Al-Aswad (May Allah be pleased with them) said, "I asked 'A'isha, may Allah be pleased with her, 'What did the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, do when he was with his family?' She replied, 'He would do chores for his family, and when it was time for the prayer, he would go out.'"

The importance of kinship

38. Abdullah bin 'Amr (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:

"The merciful are shown mercy by Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful). Be merciful on the Earth, and you will be shown mercy from Who is above the Heavens. The womb is named after Ar-Rahman, so whoever connects it, Allah connects him, and whoever severs it, Allah severs him."

Perfection of unselfishness

39. Narrated Abu Hazim (May Allah be pleased with him):Shahl bin Sa`d said, "A lady came with a Burda.” Sahl then

asked (the people), "Do you know what Burda is?" Somebody said, "Yes. it is a Shamla with a woven border." Sahl added, "The lady said, 'O Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)! I have knitted this (Burda) with my own hands for you to wear it." Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) took it and he was in need of it. Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) came out to us and he was wearing it as an Izar. A man from the people felt it and said, 'O Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)! Give it to me to wear.' The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, 'Yes.' Then he sat there for some time (and when he went to his house), he folded it and sent it to him. The people said to that man, 'You have not done a right thing. You asked him for it, though you know that he does not put down anybody's request.' The man said, 'By Allah! I have only asked him so that it may be my shroud when I die." Sahl added, "Later it was his shroud."

Hoping for his Lord

40. Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him) said:The Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "The lowest place of

any of you in Jannah will be that Allah will tell him to express his wish. He will wish and wish again. Allah will then ask him: 'Have you expressed your wish?' He will answer: 'Yes, I have.' Allah will say: 'You will have what you have wished for and the like thereof along with it."'
