CONVERSATION STARTER 1

• Sometimes the media creates images that are quite different from reality. After coming here, I have learned that many people think the Japanese are clean and hard working, and that there are a lot of high and smart buildings in Japan. For me these are idealized images produced by the media. There are a lot of people who don’t work, and this is one of the most serious problems in Japan. Also, smart and high buildings are only in small part of Tokyo.  So, have you discovered any idealized images of your country? If so, what are they? (Mass Media)(Rika)

• Around the world, patients in many remote areas do not receive medical treatment quickly because of their limited access to health facilities . However, there is a new system called remote medical consultation, which is primarily through the internet, that connects doctors and the patients using a face-to-face feature like Facetime or Skype. Nowadays, remote technologies are becoming more and more popular. What other remote technologies do you know? (medical chemistry, Cheng)
