The ZSB-CS is an industrial grade, pressure sensitive, 4-wire safety switch bumper and control reliable safety system. The ZSB-CS is a safety device that is an integral part of the machine safety circuit. It is designed to protect personnel and objects from hazardous machine conditions.

The ZSB-CS Safety System:

The ZSB-CS has two main components; a 4-wire safety switch bumper and a category 3 control reliable safety relay controller. The safety switch bumper part of the system is a normally open, 4-wire momentary contact pressure switch covered in heavy-duty re-enforced rip-stop vinyl. The control part of the system is a control reliable safety relay with cross monitored outputs. As a system, the two parts work in conjunction with one another to continuously monitor the machine safety system and control power to the dangerous conditions of the machine.

How it Works:

The system works by monitoring a small amount of current through the safety switch bumper by the controller. When a person or object, i.e. forklift, comes in contact with the safety switch bumper, the internal Zippswitch™ Sensing Strip closes and an increase of current is detected by the controller. This action causes the safety relay output contacts to open and shut power off to the machine. Once the obstruction is removed and any danger is cleared, the system will need to be reset, manually or automatically, restoring power to the machine.

The ZSB-CS is used in a wide variety of industries including Automotive Robotics, Paper Mills, News Printing, Transportation and Door Industries.

Design of the ZSB-CS Safety Switch Bumper System:

The ZSB-CS has two main components, a 4-wire safety switch bumper and a category 3 control reliable safety relay controller.

Safety Controller:

The category 3 safety relay controller consists of a power supply circuit, 4-wire safety switch bumper circuit, 2 normally-open cross monitored forced guided relays output circuit, a reset circuit and LED status indicators. The controller is packaged in a 35 mm din-rail mount enclosure.

4-Wire Safety Switch Bumper:

The subcomponents of the 4-wire safety switch bumper consists of a series wired Zippswitch™ sensing strip, heavy-duty re-enforced rip-stop vinyl cover, flame-resistant closed-cell compression foam, 4-wire cable, aluminum mounting channel (flat or angled), .2” mounting holes and end caps.
