Thursday January 11, 2018 4 DISTRICTS 200 Kgs of Lahan, 25 bottles of illicit liquor destroyed STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, the Excise Department Jammu has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of the J&K Excise Act in entire Jammu Division. On the directions of the Excise Commissioner Mohd. Javed Khan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Syed Muried Hussain Shah, the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Vikas Anand and Inspector Excise Sanjeev Khajuria along with excise staff raided the Banyari and Birsochak areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distil- lation of liquor. In the process more than 200 Kgs of Lahan and 25 bottles of illicit liquor, which is highly hazardous and injurious for health was recovered by the raiding team from state land and later destroyed on spot. Missing woman traced STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: Police on Wednesday traced a woman who went missing on Jan 4, 2018. As per the details, on Jan 8, 2018 one person namely Baldev Raj son of Munshi Ram resident of Choki Jandrore Ramnagar Distt. Udhampur along with sister in law reported at Police Station GRP Katra and produced a written applica- tion regarding his 18 years daughter missing since Jan 4, 2018 from the premises of Railway Station Katra. On this a missing report was entered in the Daily Diary of Police Station GRP Katra and a team comprising of officers/officials of GRP Katra was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Railways Katra in order to trace out the missing lady. The team put all the efforts by way of announcements at Railway Station Katra as well as other Railway Stations of GRP Katra, and a sharp look out notice was also issued in this regard for a clue of the missing lady. Immediate messages were passed through social media. Due to the professional approach and prompt action taken by the team the missing lady was traced out on Jan 9, 2018 and handed over to her husband who lauded the role of GRP Katra for their timely and swift action. Pedestrian killed in road mishap STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A pedestrian was killed in road mishap at SIDCO Chowk Bari Brahmana in district Samba on Wednesday The deceased has been identified as Karnail Singh son of Makhan Singh resident of Taral Pulwama Srinagar. According to the sources, a Scorpio (JK02BT-8786) coming from Jammu hit a pedestrian near Bari Brahmana resulting in the pedestrian getting injured and was immediately shifted to nearby hospital from where doctor referred him to GMC Jammu where he was declared as brought dead. The body of the deceased was shifted to Mortuary Room of the GMCH Jammu. In this regard police has taken cognisance in the matter and started investigation. Man held with poppy straw STATE TIMES NEWS MIRAN SAHIB: Police on Wednesday arrested a man and recovered 2 kg poppy straw from his possession. As per the details, after developing specific information Surinder Choudhary SDPO R S Pura con- ducted raid in village Phinder (Police Station Miran Sahib) and apprehended Jasmeet Singh alias Juju son of Manjeet Singh resident of Phinder who was standing in a lane near main road Phinder and carrying a bag with him. During search, about 2 kg of poppy straw was recovered from bag and Rs 11,300 from his possession. He was arrested and a case vide FIR- 05/18 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against him in Police Station Mira Sahib. STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parksh Ganga on Wednesday distributed an ex- gratia relief of Rs. 5 lakh among the families of those who were killed in the cross border firing along the International Border in Samba District. The compensation has been given to the family members of those civilians who were killed on 1st of November 2016 in the cross border fir- ing. "It is our prime and moral responsibility to extend every support to the victims of cross border shelling and share their grief and miseries with a human heart", the Minister maintained . Minister asserted that the State Government has initi- ated this scheme to compen- sate the victims who die in cross border firing which was a long pending demand of the people of border areas. "This was a firm commitment of the government towards these people which has been materialised in the shortest possible time", he added. The minister said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti recognised this issue as totally humane and took no time to approve the matter in the Cabinet for larger interest of the people living along bor- ders. "Our government believes in action rather than in hollow promises which has been reflected in its initiatives towards development and welfare of people taken up during the tenure of the pres- ent dispensation so far", he asserted. Ganga said that the amount cannot heal the wounds of the families who have lost their people but it can help their survival. "The people living in border areas are equally brave and courageous like our soldiers as they also face and fight heavy shelling and fir- ing," he asserted. He further said that gov- ernment has also approved the long pending demand of people to construct bunkers in border areas as security and protection of our people from the unprovoked firing and shelling from Pakistan is one of the top priorities of the present dispensation. The minister expressed sympathies with the affected families and assured them that the government would leave no stone unturned to help them get out of their losses. Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda along with other senior officers from the concerned depart- ments and a large number of people were present on the occasion. The compensation was given to the families of Marsha Ram, Ravinder Kour, Neha Rani, Swarn Singh and Arun Kumar, the victims of cross border firing. STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Villagers of Raghuchak Panchayat Tapyal staged a protest against district administra- tion for setting up crusher in their village. The protesters led by Jiya Lal Verma Chairman Kissan Majdoor Sangathan staged protest outside the Sub District Magistrate Office Ghagwal in district Samba and raised slogans against the district adminis- tration Samba. They alleged that several time the people of village Raghu Chack demanded to the district administration for closing the crusher which is estab- lished in the residential areas, but some days back another crusher was estab- lished in the area. After protest, they met SDM Ghagwal and gave four days ultimatum to close the crusher otherwise they will come on road in a big way. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal on Wednesday convened a public meeting at Saaj village of the district to take stock of public issues besides assessing the status of ongoing develop- ment works in the area. A team of officers including ACD Noor Aalam, Executive Engineers Zubair Choudhary, Sadeeq Wani and Nisar Khan, DSWO Dr. Abdul Khabir, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Waqar Talib, Tehsildar Thana Mandi, Shahid Iqbal, BDO Plangarh Anwar Choudhary and other officers accompanied the DDC. The locals apprised the DDC of various development issues being faced by them in day-to-day life seeking an early redressal to the same. The issues raised by the locals included road connec- tivity to all the hamlets, com- pletion of Danna-Saaj Road, connecting Neerojal and Saaj villages with main road, pro- vision of drinking water as there is no water supply scheme approved for the area, establishment of PHC, holding of PSGA camps, demarcation of land of High School and construction of its compound wall, installation of ATM at Saaj and shifting of Niabat to Neerojal besides other issues concerning devel- opment of the area. The DDC directed the Tehsildar to identify land preferably State land for PHC in the area besides ask- iong the concerned for demarcation of High School Saaj land and construction of compound wall to protect the property of school. He also asked for conducting Public Service Delivery Camps at Saaj to provide revenue cer- tificates/documents and cer- tificate by health department at the door steps of the pub- lic. Later, Dr. Shahid Iqbal vis- ited various sites and inspect- ed ongoing development works and instructed the con- cerned officers for timely and quality completion. STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana took review meeting with the nodal officers of the area regarding the subsidised helicopter services . The meeting was informed that 763 passen- gers have been air lifted since the commencement of the subsidized helicopter services. Increase in the air lifting of the passengers have been recorded in the month of December and January to the tune of 421 passengers from Kishtwar to Marwah-Warwan and Dacchan which is attrib- uted to the closure of the road at Margan Top due to heavy snowfall. Speaking on the occasion, DC informed that govern- ment has fixed only Tuesday and Friday for the airlifting of the passengers from Jammu-Doda- Kishtwar-Marwah- Warwan,Dacchan and back to Jammu, but keeping in view the rush of the passen- gers during the month of December and January from Marwah and Warwan to Kishtwar and vice versa, the passengers have also been lifted on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. It was also informed that the subsidised helicopter tariff from Jammu to Kishtwar, Kishtwar to (Soundar) Dacchan, Kishtwar to (Nawapachi) Marwah and Kishtwar to (Inshan) Warwan is Rs 4,000, Rs 1,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 respectively. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned Officers to work in tandem and maintain close coordination for smooth operation of the hel- icopter services. He also urged upon the concerned agencies to use social networking for better dissemination of informa- tion regarding flight tim- ings, rescheduling or can- cellations due to bad weath- er. He impressed upon the nodal officers to ensure that tickets are issued on first-come, first-served basis and priority be given to ladies, old-aged persons and patients. People of the Marwah- Warwan and Dacchan area have hailed the efforts of both State , Central Governments and District Administration Kishtwar for providing to and fro air services. Four months old baby of Sushil Dutta, media person associated with Early Times, passed away today morning in District Hospital Rajouri. Bakshi said that not only the male workers but number of female workers have been injured in the Lathi-charge. A total of 435 ROs and AROs were trained in 2 days training program during which interaction on various issues related to election process was held. Deputy District Election Officer, Shrikant Suse, informed that three such rounds of training will be held in coming days to make ROs and AROs well equipped with Panchayat Raj Act, 1989 provisions, Rules and various issues involved in election process. LMD conducts market checking STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: In view of upcoming festival season, the Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted an extensive mar- ket checking in Chadwal and Dayalachak area under the supervision of Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Jaideep Singh Sambyal. The team booked five traders for violation of Legal Metrology Act and Packaged Commodities Rules. The inspection team also booked a wholesale dealer dealing with sale of tiles under the brand name Jaguar Ceramic. The tile packages carry use of rubber stamps for declaring MRP which was not legible and month and year of manufacture was mentioned on unauthorised sticker both of which are violations of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules 2011. Moreover, the tiles were found to be undersize. The Legal Metrology Officer Dayalachak booked the case against the trader and seized the packages made and sold in sheer viola- tion of rules. All the defaulters were directed to produce their cases with relevant documents before Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua for further legal action.

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: DistrictDevelopment CommissionerDr. Shahid Iqbal onWednesday convened a publicmeeting at Saaj village of thedistrict to take stock of publicissues besides assessing thestatus of ongoing develop-ment works in the area.

A team of officers includingACD Noor Aalam, ExecutiveEngineers ZubairChoudhary, Sadeeq Wani andNisar Khan, DSWO Dr.Abdul Khabir, DeputyRegistrar Cooperatives,

The locals apprised theDDC of various developmentissues being faced by them inday-to-day life seeking anearly redressal to the same.

The issues raised by thelocals included road connec-tivity to all the hamlets, com-pletion of Danna-Saaj Road,connecting Neerojal and Saajvillages with main road, pro-vision of drinking water as

there is no water supplyscheme approved for thearea, establishment of PHC,holding of PSGA camps,demarcation of land of HighSchool and construction of itscompound wall, installationof ATM at Saaj and shiftingof Niabat to Neerojal besidesother issues concerning devel-opment of the area.

The DDC directed theTehsildar to identify landpreferably State land forPHC in the area besides ask-iong the concerned fordemarcation of High SchoolSaaj land and construction ofcompound wall to protect theproperty of school. He alsoasked for conducting PublicService Delivery Camps atSaaj to provide revenue cer-tificates/documents and cer-tificate by health departmentat the door steps of the pub-lic.

Later, Dr. Shahid Iqbal vis-ited various sites and inspect-ed ongoing developmentworks and instructed the con-cerned officers for timely andquality completion.

The meeting wasinformed that 763 passen-gers have been air liftedsince the commencement ofthe subsidized helicopterservices. Increase in the airlifting of the passengershave been recorded in themonth of December andJanuary to the tune of 421passengers from Kishtwarto Marwah-Warwan andDacchan which is attrib-uted to the closure of theroad at Margan Top due toheavy snowfall.

KATHUA: In view of upcoming festival season, the LegalMetrology Department (LMD) conducted an extensive mar-ket checking in Chadwal and Dayalachak area under thesupervision of Assistant Controller Legal Metrology JaideepSingh Sambyal. The team booked five traders for violation ofLegal Metrology Act and Packaged Commodities Rules.

The inspection team also booked a wholesale dealer dealingwith sale of tiles under the brand name Jaguar Ceramic. Thetile packages carry use of rubber stamps for declaring MRPwhich was not legible and month and year of manufacture wasmentioned on unauthorised sticker both of which are violationsof Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules 2011.Moreover, the tiles were found to be undersize. The LegalMetrology Officer Dayalachak booked the case against thetrader and seized the packages made and sold in sheer viola-tion of rules. All the defaulters were directed to produce theircases with relevant documents before Assistant ControllerLegal Metrology Kathua for further legal action.
