Meet the Artist • Baje grew up on the Navajo

Reservation near Shonto, Arizona.

• As a child, he loves storytelling and would make up stories on the way to their grandmother's house.

• Currently, Baje resides in Flagstaff, Arizona, and he continues to pursue his childhood interests of storytelling and art.

• Baje has illustrated eight children's books, two of which he also authored.

More About the Artist

• Baje White, Sr. is outstanding among contemporary Navajo artists.

• His finely detailed paintings are alive with bold rhythms of composition: rocks, canyons and trees surge upward toward vast and colorful skies.

• When he finished high school, he enrolled in the Northern Arizona University to study fine arts.
