    Detailed application

Squire and Partners approach to architecture isbased on a commitment to contemporary design

and detailing within a traditional urban framework of

street patterns, scale and proportions. The emphasis

is focused on responding to context, sourcing the

nest building materials and delivering a meticulously

detailed product. Recognising that buildings have

a substantial life expectancy, passing fashions are

rejected in the search for a timeless quality that will

sit well amongst Londons architectural heritage.

The practice understands the value of good design,

and aims to deliver exceptional buildings whilst

maintaining a clear understanding of the commercial

objectives involved in the development process.

Squire and Partners has over 35 years of experience,

particularly in Central London, and has a unique

relationship with the citys planners. The practice

also has considerable experience of carrying out

negotiations and consultations with residents and

statutory consultees such as English Heritage, Design

    Council CABE and the GLA.

The practice has also worked on projects in

Manchester and Liverpool, and on overseas projects,

including an education centre for the British Council

in Nairobi, and the recent masterplanning of a new

urban quarter in Kranj, Slovenia. Sustainability is a

key consideration in all areas of its work. Squire and

Partners recognise the harmful effects design and

construction can have on the environment, and are

committed to managing and reducing the impact.

They aim to deliver buildings of the highestenvironmental standards according to its type

and location. They review each buildings strategy,

specication and new ideas and technologies, to

deliver a robust low energy, low carbon project.

Recent examples of residential work range from

the The Landmark, Docklands, Creekside Village in

Deptford for Telford Homes, a mixed use development

for UNISON in Camden, One Tower Bridge

development for London Borough of Southwark and

its recent appointment as joint masterplanners at

Chelsea Barracks.Squire and Partners has been appointed by Lend Lease

to design a new residential building featuring shops

and cafes fronting the St Marys Churchyard Park. This
