My poem describes a journey of a girl who constantly keeps getting knocked down in life

until she completely reaches her breaking point and decides to fight back. The theme of my

poem is having the strength to know your self worth and forego struggles. Society can throw

many jabs at you but as long as you know who you are and what you stand for, you should be

able to overcome the criticism and live your life in order to achieve your happiness.

My poem is very metaphorical, but yet it reflects my life. It contains many symbols which

help cover up the real struggles that I went through. In the beginning of my poem, it stated that I

used to be a ballerina; it is true that I was a ballerina but it was meant to symbolize my freedom.

In the poem it also stated that I saw the broken pieces of my heart and smiles; I didnt literally

see my broken heart and smiles but, figuratively, I felt my happiness and love fade away.

For my Glog, I used the image of praise dancers as my background because it gave a

general overview of my poem. Based off of personal experience, praise dancers express their

freedom and tell stories through dance to show how they overcame the fight between

themselves and their struggle. River by Emeli Sande was my music choice because the melody

was soft and mellow and at certain points, the tempo went up just like my life did.
