President’s Environmental Youth Award Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 President’s Environmental Youth
Award (PEYA). The PEYA program recognizes outstanding environmental stewardship
projects by K-12 youth, promoting awareness of our nation's natural resources and en-
couraging positive community involvement. The PEYA program celebrates student lead-
er-ship in service projects to protect the environment and keep our global community
healthy. Winners of this year’s awards will be invited to a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
in mid-2019, and have their project mentioned on EPA’s website.
EPA will select up to two winners in each of EPA’s 10 Regions – one regional winner for
Grades K-5 and one regional winner for Grades 6-12.
All student projects must be sponsored by at least one adult over the age of 21. The ap-
plication and eligibility information are available at: https://www.epa.gov/education/
presidents-environmental-youth-award.
Applications are due February 1, 2019.
4-H 2019 College Scholarship Application
Parents and youth are looking for all possible ways to make college affordable. Tennessee
4-H offers 24 college scholarships for active 4-H members. High school seniors who are
planning to attend college should review the list of scholarships offered and determine if
they qualify to apply.
An online 4-H College Scholarship Program is used to submit scholarship applications. The
program is very easy to use. Each section has brief instructions to follow. A summary chart
of college scholar-ships is available on our web site at https://4h.tennessee.edu/Pages/
forms_materials.aspx#16 Note that not all of the scholarships require youth to major in
agriculture or attend UTK. Some scholarships are also available to youth who have already
completed one year of college so read the guidelines carefully! There is additional infor-
mation on each scholarship in the Awards and Recognition Handbook, Section VI. The
handbook is located on the Tennessee 4-H web site (click on the Green AWARDS circle
and select Recognition.) In addition to the summary chart, there are other resources
available on the web page to facilitate the process of completing the application. Make
sure you read those re-sources before you start working on the application. Among the
resources is a User Guide for the application process. The link to the application program
is https://4hscholarship.tennessee.edu/
The online process requires an electronic approval from the county agent before the ap-
plicant submits the application to the state 4-H office. This feature is to allow the agent to
review and give feed-back on the content of the application. The applicant can then re-
view and update the information on the application before submitting the document to
the state 4-H office.
All scholarship applications are due on Friday, February 22nd; state
deadline is March 1.
