1.1 GCSEreformsNew9–1GCSEspecificationshavebeenavailablefromSeptember2015.WheretheseGCSEsarebeingassessedforthefirsttimeinJune2020,thiswillbeindicatedintherelevantentryinthissection.

1.2 Informationonretaking9–1GCSEsCandidateswishingtoretakea9–1GCSEarerequiredtoretakeallwrittenunitsinthequalification.All9–1GCSEnon-examinedassessmentresultscanbecarriedforwardfromapreviousseriesprovided the relevant transferred entry option is selected when making the entry.

2 Entry procedures and key dates

2.1 EntryproceduresPlease see qualifications.pearson.com/exam-support for details on how to make entries on Edexcel Online and EDI.

2.2 PrivatecandidatesPrivatecandidatesarecandidatestakingaqualificationwithoutbeingenrolledfulltimeinacentre.Theyareresponsiblefortheirownentries,whichmustbemadethroughanapprovedcentre.Somequalificationsarenotavailabletoprivatecandidates.Forafulllistofqualificationsandprivatecandidateeligibilityseeourwebsite.

2.3 EntrydeadlinesandresultsPleaseseetheKeyDatessectionofthismanualforentryandresultsdates,andthecertificationand centremarksubmissiondates.TheKeyDatessectionalsoincludesdetailsofwhenEDIbasedataandEdexcelOnlineareavailableforthesubmissionofentries.

2.4 RetentionofcertificatesItisnolongernecessarytoreturnuncollectedcertificatestous.Theymaybedestroyed(inaconfidentialmanner)afterretentionforaperiodofnolessthan12monthsfromthedateofissue.CentresthatdonothaveameansofdestroyingcertificatesconfidentiallymayreturnthemtoourManchesteroffice.A recordofcertificatesthathavebeendestroyedshouldberetainedforfouryearsfromtheirdateof destruction.

Centresmustcomplywithanyrequestfromustoreturnacertificate.Certificatesremainthepropertyoftheawardingbodiesatalltimes.
