43
… and World Tour is a must-win for 3x3
• Offers foundation for professional circuit and dedicated players

• Federations’s own interest is to have events on the Road to the
World Tour in their territory

- Lasting legacy through a recurrent competition
- Optimal mean to collect points for 3x3 Federation Ranking purposes
• Enhances value of promoters’ own events when integrated on the

44
Packaging key for success
vs.
Packaging in sport means:
• Simple competition structure
• Standard competition formats
• Premium + recurrent delivery
• Content generation + Story telling
• Stars and brand equity of teams
• Framing set of rules
Regulations & discipline is basis of success and key to attract TV & sponsors
45
Basics
Truly global competition for all players
• Teams represent a city of their country (no nationality restrictions)
• Each event features the best 12 teams of the corresponding catchment area
• 10,000 players competed in 215 events in 30 countries for a berth in 2014

Same but different…
«I have played basketball for many years and it is interesting to find out that
there is a complete different way of playing the Game», Carlos Jimenez
(Olympic medalist and 2006 World Champion) after participating in the 2012
FIBA 3x3 World Championships
«There are definitively unique tactics to play 3x3; the kind of player is
different and preparation is specific», Alex Rivera (PUR) instructing teams
for 3x3 international competitions since 2010 Youth Olympic Games
3x3 is a stand-alone discipline by own merits, ... and not a a subproduct

• Tool for all national federations to develop basketball
• A unique chance for any federation to win medals

Tool for NF’s applicable in various environments
Large BB countries
e.g. Brazil
• Reduces churn, lengthens BB life, attracts
new players
Small countries
e.g. Guam
• Reach critical mass to have meaningful BB
community
Lower average height countries
e.g. Indonesia
• Size less relevant, versatility, shooting and
skills more important
Countries without BB tradition
e.g. Romania
• A cool format to gain market share and
easier to create a competitive national-team
All countries
• Short format in sync with modern “zapping”
culture
Countries without sports tradition
e.g. Guatemala
• A youthful activity paired with music and fun
capable of overcoming sedentarism
