We can make hold-up cards to act as power reservoirs. In the event of the loss of power to your LRU, and acting on a signal from the PSU, your cards can draw on that reservoir; giving them more time to complete their tasks.

Hold-up is available within (integral to) some of our 3U VPX power supplies. It can also be added as an extension. Please contact us for further details.

To support the earliest possible assessment of your LRU as a ‘system load’, we can produce load cards to represent your intended I/O, processor and other cards.

Just give us the anticipated electrical loads, an indication of expected device hotspots and the weights of your cards and we will produce load cards with appropriate electrical and physical characterstics.

In a recent test a ½ ATR Short 3U chassis was fi tt ed with liquid cooled side panels. With a PSU and seven load cards (representi ng a total load of 750W) and a coolant fl ow rate of 1.5 litres per minute the liquid cooling not only evened out thermal loading but it also indicated a total load of 1.2kW could have been accommodated at 55oC ambient.

Our 6U chassis are also lightweight, rugged, sealed to IP 68, modular and can be liquid cooled. Recent 6U chassis designs have also included lockable compartments.

In additi on to off ering COTS power supplies - and our ability to produce MOTS variants - we also design and manufacture chassis and backplanes. We are therefore your one-stop-shop Power Platf orm Partner, freeing you to focus on the development of your processing, I/O and other system cards. Our 3U chassis are lightweight, rugged and water ingress protected to IP 68. They are modular in design, allowing parts to be replaced. In additi on, side panels can be upgraded to liquid-cooled to enable greater heat exchange (see below).

Our backplanes are available as RoHS or non-RoHS compliant, depending on your requirements, plus we can provide complete traceability of parts and materials.

Backplanes can be built to accommodate mixed-technology connectors. For example, a VPX backplane can carry P47 and VITA 62 connectors. Also, to support your development activities, backplanes can be fitted with communications ports (e.g. Ethernet connectors) and test points.

Our VPX and VME backplanes are typically project-specific and built to order. Moreover, if you discuss your overall power, chassis and backplane requirements with us early on in your programme, it may transpire that a pre-qualified COTS PSU already exists. As your Power Platform Partner we’re able to support the development of your system.
