Northwestern is in its 34th season of play at Welsh-Ryan Arena and

has posted a 244-169 record dating to the 1975-76 season. In its 33 seasons of hosting women’s basketball, Welsh-Ryan has seen just five coaches grace the hardwood, with Don Perrelli having the longest run at 15 years. His courtside service produced 251 wins—138 of them at home—and his teams made a run from 1989-94 with five consecutive seasons of double-

digit home wins. Eight of Perrelli’s 15 seasons at Welsh-Ryan produced 10 wins or more. He also holds the record for most home wins in a season, finishing 12-3 in 1986-87. That streak is comparable to the 29-game home winning streak from 1976-81 under the direction of Mary DiStanislao and Annette Lynch. DiS-tanislao recorded 24 of those wins before Lynch took the reins before the 1980-81 season.
