Dear Hawkins Families,

This week our school year comes to a close, it’s hard to believe it is here

so quickly. This year our team made the transition to Common Core

Standards and ensure that your students are being prepared for college

and career goals. Our staff will continue to make this transition next

year in mathematics and you will see many of the instructional practices

be enhanced to create critical thinkers and problem solvers. This is an

exciting time for our students and teachers.

As we close this year out I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank

you. Thank you to the teachers for all their hard work, passion and dili-

gence in transforming their instructional practices to help our students

succeed in the 21st century. Thanks to our students for their hard work,

active participation in the classrooms and for showing their Husky

pride. Thank you to the support staff that helps keep our school run-

ning smoothly in so many ways. Finally, thank you to our parents for

your support in all that we do for your children. We will always have

bumps in the road, as no road is perfect, but together, working as a

team, we will work our best to make Hawkins a place of excellence.

There are many activities happening in our last 3 days of school, please

look further in our newsletter for all of the details of these activities. We

wish everyone a restful, relaxing, fun and wonderful summer vaca-

tion. We will see you back on August 12, 2014 for our 14/15 school

year! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or com-

ments.
