    Revival: Our Great NeedInitial Words {7}

    Laodiceas water was pipedfrom aspring five miles south of the city. Bythe time the water reached Laodicea,

    it was lukewarm. Jesus uses that torepresent the condition of His last-day

    church: self-confident, complacent,apathetic, and spiritually indifferent.A church that has lost its passion and

    needs spiritual revival.

    1. An Spiritual Re-creationHope for Lukewarm Laodiceans {8}

    In Revelation 3:14, the Greek wordfor beginning is arche. It can mean

    beginning in the sense that the

    one to whom it refers is the beginnerof the action or event.

    In this context, arche refers to Jesusas the Beginner, or the first cause ofall creation. In other words, He is

    the Creator.

    Revelation 3:15-17 NKJV Iknow yourworks, that you areneither cold nor hot. I will spew

    2. A Loving RebukeSpiritually Indifferent{9}

    The message to the Laodiceanchurch applies most decidedly to

    those whose religious experience isinsipid, who do not bear decidedwitness in favor of the truth.

    2. A Loving RebukeSpiritually Indifferent{9}

    An insipid religious experience isone that is lifeless. It has the outerhusk of Christianity but lacks the

    substance. It has the external formbut lacks the living power.

    The Laodiceans are not heretics orfiery fanatics; they are simply,

    spiritually indifferent.

    There is a gap between whatLaodicea says and does.

    There is an even greater gap

    between the spiritual experiencethat Laodicea thinks she has and

    what she actually does have.One of Satans fatal deceptions is toblind us to the reality of our

    spiritual needs.
