MINISTRIES IN ACTION RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Food Donations are always welcome
to replenish our Food Pantry.
Gardening Ministry
We are well underway with the planting of vegetables for the people who come to our Food Pantry. Tomatoes, peppers, squash, and zucchini have been planted so far! There are many more beds available
for planting to happen. If you are interested in becoming part of this ministry, please call Bev McNamara at 978-466-6264 and let her know.
REGISTRATION! In the quest to complete our registration process for the 2016-2017 school year before the summer break and while we still have clerical help, we are asking parents to register your children when you bring them for classes. Forms may be picked up, completed and left for us on the table outside the Religious Ed Office in the Parish Family Center. Each form is numbered as it comes in, and although we try to honor your choice of day, we can only do so for the first 100 families. Early registra-tion is to your advantage as parents retain the ability to make changes to your choice of day up until mid-August should your schedule change later on in the spring.
Father Carlos’ Pills of Faith
Corpus Christi
What was once bread and wine are now Christ’s body and blood! What makes this happen? The power of God’s Spirit and Word. After praying for the Spirit to come, the priest, who stands in the place of Christ, repeats the words of Jesus “This
is my Body, and this is my Blood.” Sounds to me like Genesis 1: the mighty wind whips over the surface of the water and God’s Word resounds. Let there be light and there was light. It is no harder to believe in the Eucharistic miracle than to believe in Creation. But why did Jesus arrange for this transformation of bread and wine? Because he intended another kind of transformation. The bread and wine are transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ which are, in turn, meant to transform us. Have you ever heard the phrase: “you are what you eat?” The Lord desired us to be transformed from a motley crew of imperfect individuals into the Holy Body of Christ. We are transformed by Christ so we can transform all those around us by faith and love!
We are grateful that the following seniors attended the Baccalaureate Mass last Sunday: Brianna Berry, Cooper Bigelow, Callum Connacher, Steven DeSalvo, Daniel Dumford, Kelsey Dunn, Catherine Durling, Haylee Hebert, Katherine Helmer, Sophia Holman, Susan Johnson, Kelley Lapointe, Joe Lutter, Jake Lutter, Jocelyn Menendez-Aponte, Isabelle Murphy, Emily Provencher, Liam Rawlinson, Nicholas Souders, Annie Souza, and Connor St. Germain. FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY (FPU)
Our Lady of the Lake is beginning a new ministry to gain financial peace based on money expert Dave Ramsey’s FPU strategy. This life changing class taught by Dave Ramsey and the FPU team through video teaching and class discussions will help you achieve your financial goals by showing you how to eliminate debt, save for the future, and give like never before. This course curriculum has been implemented all over the country for the last 20 years, including local churches. The cost of a FPU lifetime membership is $93. (about $10/week), which includes class materials and access to the FPU online resources. Your membership means that you can attend the FPU class as often as you like. Spouses and engaged couples can attend together with a single membership, and teens living at home are welcome to attend with their parents. Please join us if you want to change your financial story and your life in a matter of weeks.

Saint Katharine Drexel (Room M8)
Foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament
(1858-1955)
Katharine Drexel was born into one of the wealthiest families in America. When her father died, he established a trust for his three daughters worth fourteen million dollars. Devout Catholics, all three women regarded their
fortune as an opportunity to glorify God through the service of others. There were certainly plenty of claims on the generosity of a young Catholic heiress. But Katharine felt a special call to serve Native Americans and people of color. In 1878, during a private audience with Pope Leo XIII, she begged the Pope to send priests to serve these people. He responded, “Why not become a missionary yourself?”
There being no existing order corresponding to her sense of mission, Katharine founded her own order: The Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Colored People. She chose not to spend any of her own trust money on this venture. Instead, she spent her money on such initiatives as the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions and the founding of Xavier University in New Orleans, the first Catholic college established for black students. She endowed scores of schools on Indian reservations. Mother Drexel, whose life spanned the era of slavery and the dawn of the civil rights movement, died on March 3, 1955, at the age of ninety six. She was canonized in 2000. (The plaques in each room were donated in memory
of Cheryl Carchidi by her mother, Marylou Kurtz.)
