    Presidents Publication & Editors Note

    Hey Key Clubbers,

Im really excited to be working with yall this year! We had a

great beginning and things will only go uphill from now! Key

club is all about providing our members with opportunities to

serve our community, building character, and developing

leadership. So far we have had some interesting events, and

definitely stay tuned for more exciting socials, fun loving

events, and enthusiastic fundraisers! Make sure you contact

you designated class officers regarding any questions, and

they will get back to you shortly. Our car pool chairmen can

address any issues with rides and make sure you are able to

    for information

regarding updates and reminders. Remember you are

    required to have 10 physical and/or 10 non-physical hours.

Participate in on-going fundraisers to get your non-physical

hours as well as upcoming socials! Meetings will be every

other Wednesday before and after school in the Teaching

Theater. Make sure you attend the events you signed up for.

Also make sure you find the officer in-charge of the event

and sign in with them too so you can get your hours. You must

attend all meetings in-order to remain a member. As the year

2014 comes to an end, look out for more events to finish up

your hours for this year. Remember that DCON is coming up.

Start thinking about the contests and all the fun! We have a

document running of all the contests and officers in charge. If

you are willing to join us on this great journey make sure you

attend the informational meetings. At these meetings, your

parents will be given the necessary paperwork. Remember

that DCON is April 9-12 filled with leadership forums, officer

training, ice breakers, and many more fun topics! Hope to see

    you there!!!

    Yours in Service,

    Hey Cy Falls!

I cant believe the first month of the New

Year is already over! Its crazy how time flies

when youre serving others. But in key club,

not only do you get to serve others, you also

get to serve yourself! Im talking about DCON

of course! DCON is like a big treat for all of

your hard work at the end of the year.

Theres parties, balls, and lots of opportunities

to make new friends. DCON is honestly one

of the things Im looking forward to most this

year and I wish as many as you can go as

possible. If are unable to attend either one of

the informational meetings I encourage you

to talk to Ms. McMillian in room 2606.

    Yours in Service,

  • Grace Care

    By Kelly Suong10, Sophmore Representative

When I volunteer at Grace Care I always have

an amazing time. The nurses and receptionist(s)

at Grace Care are always kind and super

grateful for our help! Im so thankful for the

opportunity to be able to talk to the elderly

and try to make them smile. I love meeting

them, laughing with them, and just being

around them makes my day ten times better!

Im so glad I decided to volunteer at Grace

Care that Friday because it was such a great

way to tie up the end of the first semester! I

helped wheel out Robert (a new friend I

made), put up Poinsettias around the facility,

pass out drinks, and tried my best to make

everyone smile. I also met Lorraine she was the

sweetest lady ever! We talked about our

Christmas plans, our likes/dislikes, and the

    decorations around the facility. Mrs.Rolanda

(one of the nurses) was very kind and showed

us around Grace Care. She was so cheerful

and funny! She told us exactly what to do and

where to go. She took us to the Movie room

where the elderly were watching a Christmas

movie. She told us to wheel them to the front

for Social hour. When we got to the front we

went into the kitchen with Mrs. Rolanda; she

found this very creative idea to make

cinnamon tea. All of the volunteers grabbed a

cup and started passing them out to the

    3

the elderly. After about ten minutes I

went around again asking if anyone

wanted a refill or needed anything. They

were all very grateful that I was doing so.

I saw Robert sitting alone so I decided to

accompany him. He showed me his very

cool watch and told me about his

Christmas plans as well. I began cleaning

up and asked if anyone had any trash to

throw away. As the event came to an

end I was very disappointed because I

had to say goodbye to all the new

friends. I will definitely be volunteering

at Grace Care soon so, I can say hello to

all of them again! Mrs.Rolanda continued

to thank us for our help as we were

leaving and told us to come by soon! As I

left I had a big smile on my face because

I accomplished my goal of trying to make

    them smile!
