Founded in 1902 as the Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company.

5 business men agreed to mine a mineral deposit for grinding-wheel abrasives in Minnesota.

But the deposits proved to be of little value and 3M almost went

bankrupt.

The minerals in hard

water, such as calcium

and magnesium, cause

unsightly stains to form

on the dishes. The lime

scaling hardens with time,

making it harder to

remove the unwanted

rings and spots.

Rusted Sinks/baths

Hard water from the pipes

causes scale and lime to build

up on sinks, forming an ugly,

solid, brown, white or grayish

crust. In addition to being

unattractive, the concentration

of dissolved minerals can pit

and eat into the sinks causing

permanent damage.

Certain minerals in the hard

water interact with the soap or

detergent, which keep it from

interacting with soils, stains and

other dirt on clothes making it

less effective. The life of these

clothes are reduced too.

Also, it causes scale formation
