Other things to take note of prior to the test day are as follows: Engineer must ensure that the latest 3G cells files are made available for the test. Engineer must ensure that all equipment is working properly by testing them one after the other.

The test routes for the cluster test must be taken into consideration; the map for the DT route must be with the DT engineer.

It is the responsibility of the DT engineer to ensure that the car charger of the hired vehicle is working normally.

CONNECTION OF EQUIPMENTThe dongle, GPS and the Phone are connected to the Laptop, thereafter the TEMS Investigation Data Collection Software is launched. On launching the software, the interface comes up and the all connected equipment are seen as shown in the snapshot below

The status of all connected devices can be seen by clicking on the Ctrl & Config tab on the TEMS software. By doing this, we arrive at the snapshot below

The EQI indicates that the Phone is connected and EQ2 signifies the presence of GPS, the ports used for these devices are also displayed on the software interface.PROCEDURE FOR PREPARING THE TEST WINDOWTo get the required windows for the test, the following steps are takenFrom Presentation-WCDMA-Data Services, then choose the needed window. The illustration is shown below

LOADING OF CELL FILE

From Configuration-General-Cell file load-Properties window, click on add to choose the location of the cell file (which is an excel document is located), then apply and ok, the cell file will show on the map window as seen below

GETTING SET FOR TESTThe cluster optimization test involves four basic forms of test and they must be done separately

NOTE:

Though the long call test and the HSDPA test can be done together but it leads to lot of interference thereby affecting the EC/Io resulting to low KPI value. Hence the reason for performing the test separately. The various types of test available for Cluster Optimization are;(a) Long call test

(b) R99 DL & short Call test

(c) Video Call test

(d) HSDPA testThe first thing to be done before testing is to ensure that the test phone to be used is locked to the WCDMA mode both on the phone and on the TEMS software interface.

After choosing WCDMA, apply and ok your choice. At this point, the parameters on the TEMS will be on 3G mode, displaying the scrambling codes, frequency and every other information needed. Naming of logfile should take the format below: STATE_MOBILE NUMBER_TYPE OF TEST_NUMBER OF LOGFILE KANO_MS1_LONG CALL_01 OR KADUNA_MS1_HSDPA_021. LONG CALL This is achieved by initiating a call to the switch. The switch number for the test is 08094198989. The first thing to do is to insert a 3G SIM inside the phone, switch on the phone and connect the phone to the laptop while the phone, engineer must ensure that the phone is on 3G mode.Bring up the necessary windows as discussed earlier, load the cell files and initiate a call by dialing the number above. On doing this, the snapshot below is obtained. It is the responsibility of the Engineer to pay attention to the Software Interface while Drive testing in order to ensure that devices does not disconnect and if exist disconnection during the test, engineer must stop to reconnect the equipmentWhile Drive testing, the engineer should pay attention to the following KPIs namely;

CPICH RSCP

CPICH Ec/Io

Engineer must start recording of logfile before initiating the call in order to have a RRC set up in the testlog. Logfile can be named: LAGOS_MS1_LONGCALL _01

2. R99 DL & SHORT CALL

From the equipment properties on TEMS, scroll down to WCDMA RRC RADIO CAPABILITY, change default to MODIFIED and allowed technologies to R99 ONLY, after which you can apply and ok the settings as shown in the snapshot below

The aim of this test is to ensure that download and call initiation takes place simultaneously. To this effect, it is necessary for the Engineer to connect to the ETISALAT FTP SERVICE USING WINSCP and download a file while a short call is going on. The time duration for the short call could be three (3) minutes and can be set up directly from the command sequence. This is illustrated below;On the TEMS interface, click on the Ctlr & Config Tab, click on the Edit tab which brings several option, Under the Voice/ Video option, double click on Dial option, fill in the phone number which is the switch number 08094198989,call type option is Voice. Press the properties button to set the number of executions and time interval for each call. An illustration is given below

Logfile name can take the form of LAGOS_MS1_R99&SHORT CALL_01 in case the logfiles will be many

3. VIDEO CALL TESTFor this test to be successful, both the engineers phone and the receivers phone must be 3G (WCDMA MODE). This can also be done if the engineer has two phones and two 3G SIMS in his possession. He needs to set the phones to 3G mode, type the second 3G number, choose an option, and then select make video call option. The time duration for this test should not be more than twenty (20) seconds. It is form of short call but differs in the sense that it is a video call. This can also be set from the command sequence. Name of logfile is LAGOS_MS1_VIDEOCALL _014. HSDPA TEST

This test is a complete download test; the engineer moves round the whole DT route and continuously download a file from the FTP service. The 3G Sims have been configured to access the FTP. This test is achieved by using the Data Card (MODEM) given to the Engineer. The Data Card must be installed manually on the laptop before the test can be performed. Logfile should be named as LAGOS_MS1_HSDPA_01The Installation of the Data Card is plug and play type. Follow the steps and procedures that appear after inserting the modem to the laptop. Two types of modem are available namely the China Unicom and the Huawei Mobile Partner type. The engineer needs to create a new profile from the settings the procedure is as follows;Settings- Profile management-click on New

Profile name: ET

APN: choose static and name is pos.ng

Authentication

Access number: *99#

Username: user

Password: user123

Then click on save to make the settings permanent.

After this step, press the back arrow which takes you to the initial stage and click on the connection menu, then choose connect, the modem automatically connect with a speed of 7.2mbps. This is demonstrated below;

CONNECTION TO FTP SERVICELaunch the WINSCP Program

Press login to give you the interface below

When the ftp service opens, on the right hand side of the server, locate ftpdownload folder, double click on it, drag a large file or folder from the right hand side of the ftp folder and drop on the left, click on copy to start downloading

Other modem (Mobile partner) set is as follows;Tool-Options-Profile management-and necessary settings
