NEW FEATURES IN DELTAGEN 2017x

Flexibility at preparationDELTAGEN 2017x has made a lot of improvements regarding input data handling, assembly workflow and CAD part update process.

Seamless ICEM Surf connectionDELTAGEN now supports ICEM Reference Manager files. It can convert and keep external references, transformations as well as material and geometry variants. .icem and .rms files can be imported through the DELTABATCH Configurator, as well as directly into DELTAGEN.

Assembly workflow speed upDELTAGEN differentiates modified parts by their status of being changed or not, saving only the modified parts. This enhancement improves saving times, especially if you are working with heavy datasets structured in multiple assemblies. Additionally, the data conversion time of assemblies is highly reduced with multi-core support.

UV generation using presetsUV Maps have been replaced by selectable and configurable presets. In the PREFERENCES the UV generation can be adjusted and saved, it can also be used for automatic CAD part updates. This UV generation can also now be done using DELTABATCH.

Design centric UIEspecially for design, a clean interface with fewer disturbing UI elements is key in order to allow the novice user to build up staging content. A streamlined UI showing the storyboard over the fullscreen visualization helps to drive interactive management design reviews.

Transparent skinsDELTAGEN now comes with transparent and semitransparent skins as well as with a DESIGN task featuring the transparent skin layout, making design reviews on a single screen possible. Fully transparent dialogs offer the click-through functionality.

Storyboarding in the Variant switcherThe VARIANT SWITCHER allows you to play through all variants and variant sets in a simple storyboard. You can create stories and slideshows with defined playtimes. Camera variants can now also be created and refreshed directly from the Variant switcher. Additionally, variant state tracking tells you exactly what is playing by clearly displaying the variant set’s defined and supposed state before, during and after a transition.

Realtime reviews with StellarA smooth noise-free rendering result even in the first rendering frame is essential in order to have realtime camera flights in high visual quality. To achieve this we implemented the following new features in the Stellar render engine.

Hardware anti-aliasing Stellar now offers HARDWARE ANTI-ALIASING, which includes anti-aliasing along and inside geometry primitives and triangle edges. As the GPU directly calculates the anti-aliasing, the impact on performance is minimal compared to software anti-aliasing.

Configurable Image-Based Lighting samplingIn order to have a noise-free blurry reflection in the Rasterizing and Raytracing modes, the HDR reflection texture needs to be presampled. In DELTAGEN 2017x you can choose between a presampeld IBL with different quality settings or an unsampled IBL that best matches the Global illumination mode.

Additional enhancements of the Stellar render engine

Voxel grid visualization of the Ambient occlusion shadowThis option displays the underlying voxel grid to better understand and counter particular effects coming with the voxel-based ambient occlusion. This option is intended for debugging purposes and displays the voxels as cubes shaping the objects in the scene.

Specialized materialsTo improve rendering performance, materials can now be specialized within Stellar after setting them up in the MATERIAL EDITOR.

Enhanced functionality

New window behavior You have the option to show and hide all windows in the different viewing modes. ALT+2 hides and shows all dialog boxes. You can also enable this functionality via the WINDOW menu.

Modifications to the toolbarThe items of the toolbar can now be moved and defined, allowing users to create their own setups. You can also customize the full screen setup and thus streamline your work when switching to presentation mode.

Highlight active nodes in the LNEBy highlighting the active nodes in a running network you are able to see the current state of nodes and identify possible sources of problems or conflicts in your logic network. With this option, by clicking PLAY, the active nodes and links in the network are highlighted for at least one second and remain highlighted as long as they are being processed.

Query support in picking conditions of triggersThis enhancement to the user interface allows defining pickable objects via a standard query based on metadata or object name. Defining references of scene objects via queries increases the reuse capability of scenes and products.

Variant filtering on requestThe VARIANT MANAGER user interface in DELTAGEN includes additional features. You can now view and edit newly created variant sets without having to leave a filtered list of variants. The filter automatically refreshes the list of variants when you change or deactivate the filter. With this convenient functionality you can keep track of changes to newly created variant sets while maintaining a specified list of variants active.

Standalone turntable dialogYou can enable a standalone TURNTABLES dialog which has an integrated turntable placement and can be displayed with a transparent skin. Access the standalone turntable via the WINDOW menu or in the OBJECT EDITOR.

DASSAULT SYSTEMES License Server supportIn addition to FlexLM, the DS License Server (DSLS) is supported for licensing DELTAGEN. This allows for easier maintenance of your systems, especially if other software packages are running with the DS License Server. During the installation process you can choose your preferred license server.

VERSION CHANGE AND COMPATIBILITYWhen loading scenes from previous versions, DELTAGEN checks for ID consistency in the scene and informs about possible inconsistencies.

If duplicate IDs are identified, the user log contains a list of entities to which a new ID has been assigned. Those elements may have malfunctioned in animations, variants or networks in the old version and may need to be reassigned to their targets.
