NEW Autostop• Automatically shuts off engine when at idle after a set

time period. The time period can be pre-set on the 7” screen between 3 minutes and 30 minutes.

• The feature is enabled by default during the engine start.

• The machine will Autostop if:• Autostop is enabled• Park brake is applied• Transmission is in neutral• Hydraulic controls are not activated• All exterior lights are off• Engine is at idle • Engine is at or above 70°C

• If the conditions above are met a countdown of 30 seconds will show on the display before the engine stop. When this reaches 0, the machine will shut down.

• Reduces total fuel consumption by up to 7%.

AUTOMATION

• To disable Autostop press F* on the rotary control

the introduction of the JCB 55kW 3.0 litre EU Stage V engine. The JCB 430 engine is a revolutionary product, offering a compact four cylinder engine developed for the most demanding of off highway applications.

• With the drive to reduce emissions within the EU the JCB 430 utilises the state of the art technologies yet maintaining the key attributes of JCB’s engine design of high torque, low fuel consumption and heavy duty design. The JCB 430 compared to the JCB 444 is smaller, lighter, more cost effective and easier to maintain.

• JCB Livelink allows the monitoring of DPF regenerations & operator inhibits.

Key Features:– High torque at low RPM– Upto 7% fuel efficiency over the 4.4L 55kW EcoMAX– NEW Auto stop function that results in significant fuel savings– More compact in size: 24% smaller than the 4.4L EcoMAX engine– 30% lighter than the EcoMAX– Innovative with the state of the art particulate and NOx technologies – NEW combined DPF/DoC supported by a JCB approved

refurbishment program

Stage V vs Stage IV 55kW

55Kw Stage IV 55kW Stage V

Benefits:– Improved fuel economy (upto 5%)– Reduced CO2 emissions (upto 4.9%)– 10% increase in engine torque capability greater

than that of the 4.4L EcoMAX engine– 30% reduced service costs by introducing:

– 500hr service intervals– Hydraulic lash adjusters remove the need for

the valve adjustment at 2000hrs– Sealed for life crank case ventilation module,

eliminates filter replacement– Glow plugs for improved cold start capability (-20°C)– JCB backed DPF/DoC refurbishment program

Reduced Service Costs:• Hydraulic tappets - are now maintenance free and contribute to reduced

service requirements of the engine. Pressurised oil flows from the rocker shaft through the rocker arm and a pressured jet of oil is sent to lubricate the swivel pad. This pressurised oil eliminates the clearance in the entire valve-rocker arm pushrod-tappet-cam system. The correct grade of oil is essential for the correct functioning of the hydraulic tappets.

• Crankcase ventilation module – has been redesigned on the JCB 430 engine and does not require the use of a filter, this eliminates the usual service requirement. The CCV allows excess combustion gasses and vapours to leave the engine preventing excessive pressure build up.

• Glow plugs – are now fitted to the engine which are used as heating devices to aid starting in cold climates. The glow plugs are positioned within the combustion chamber and the tip has a heating element which heats the air to aid combustion of the diesel and fuel mixture, reducing the cranking time required to start the engine. The glow plugs are controlled by the engine ECU and are automatically activated when the ambient temperature is below 3°C (37.4°F)

• Engine ECU – is now mounted on top of the plastic rocker cover on large rubber isolation mounts providing ease of access. Even though the ECU has a protective cover and the harness connectors are IP69 rated, no electrical component should be directly pressure washed

Aftertreatment:

The JCB 430 Stage V 3.0L Engine meets EU Stage V regulations with help of a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). The DPF has 2 separate segments:

• Inlet side (A)- Internal Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DoC) to break down harmful pollutants to reduce particulate matter

• Outlet side (B)- has an internal DPF to reduce mass exiting exhaust system.

• This helps reduce particulate matter by up to 40% over the previous T4F engine.

(a) (b)

STAGE V ENGINEDPF Regeneration:The DPF system over time needs to perform a regeneration of the canister to reduce the soot mass that is collected within the DPF/DoC.There are 3 types of regeneration:

Automatic regeneration: • The system is designed to perform this automatically every 80-

120hrs subject to the application. If the machine is operated in an arduous duty cycle with high load, the frequency of the regen is reduced as the increased exhaust temperatures can burn off more excessive soot. During the regen, the HEST amber (DPF) lamp (a) will appear to inform the operator of the regeneration. Apart from the warning lamp the regen should be invisible to the operator with only change noticeable is the slight change in engine RPM which in turn will increase the exhaust temperature slightly. Once the regen is complete the operator will be informed by a green HEST lamp (b) on the side console display.

• If the automatic regen needs to be stopped at any point due to the machine not being in a safe environment can press the F* button on the rotary encoder.

• If the F* frequently during automatic regen it will lead to de-rate of the engine and a manual regeneration will need to be performed

Page 24: 3CX PRODUCT TRAINING

(d)

(c)

STAGE V ENGINEManual regeneration:• Required at regular intervals during the machine life. These

will be less frequent than the automatic regen but can be accelerated by light duty/low load applications. Also if the operator consistently inhibits the auto regen the manual regen must be performed.

• When performing a manual regen the machine must be parked up in a safe location and the operator must remain in the cab (this could take upto 45mins). The manual regen is accessed through the side console screen (c)

Service regeneration:• A level of regen that can only be completed by using

ServiceMaster. • A red HEST lamp (d) will appear on the side console and

the engine will de-rate and operate with limited power and torque.

• A service regen should only be required if a fault is present, or if the manual regen is inhibited repeatedly.

• A service regen caused by inhibiting a manual regen is not warrantable
