and management for the cataract patient with glaucoma, retina and cornea considerations

• Identify resources for glaucoma education for patients• Review low/minimal technology strategies for addressing eye

care in humanitarian missions• Discuss minimal maintenance techniques for healing and eye

On behalf of the faculty of the Baylor Scott and White Eye Institute, we would like to extend a warm invitation for you to join us for the 39th Annual Everett R. Veirs Lecture and Ophthalmology Conference, which will be held Friday-Saturday, April 27-28, 2018 in Temple, Texas.

This year we will be focusing on Cataract surgery and plan to cover various aspects of the field including new technology, techniques and special considerations. We will kick off the meeting Friday evening with dinner at a local favorite, Stagecoach Inn in Salado. Our chief residents will also be giving excellent presentations on their research projects.

Saturday’s meeting, held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Temple, will feature Dr. Kerry Solomon of Charleston, SC, as our 39th Annual Veirs lecturer. Dr. Solomon is the immediate Past President of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons. He is internationally renowned for LASIK and refractive cataract surgery. Dr. Solomon has been named one of the “Top 50 Opinion Leaders in the Fields of Cataract and Refractive Surgery” and one of the “Best Doctors in America”. He is a perennial research leader and has been named one of the top 250 innovators in the field of premium IOL surgery by the publishers and editors of Premier Surgeon.

We are also pleased to announce Dr. David McCartney, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center is scheduled to speak. Dr. McCartney will be giving our Ethics lecture which will consist of an entertaining interactive series of case discussions with our Residents.

Our hope is that you will consider attending this year’s Veirs conference as a means to fulfill CME requirements (with one hour of Ethics) and acquire new medical information. We also hope you take advantage of this opportunity to rekindle relationships with former colleagues as well as forge new friendships as we learn from one another other how to best care for our patients.
