We look forward to seeing everyone at the January 6, 2015 General meeting.

We will be wrapping gifts and signing cards for the Clients/Consumers of Beacon/Five Points (Day Centers) which they will be receiving on Friday at the Christmas/Holiday Meal.

Dear NAMI Gwinnett Family and Friends;
Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church has a no smoking policy, they have been graciously allowing NAMI Gwinnett to be an exception to this policy, please note NAMI Gwinnett has to pay a nominal fee for the use of this building.
The ONLY area designated for smoking is outside of classroom C9 which is the door between the support group rooms, around the corner from the women’s bathroom, there is NO smoking allowed in any other area of LPC. If you have questions on the location of C9 please ask your support group facilitator
LPC has on two different occasions notified NAMI Gwinnett that their staff has found cigarette butts and trash around the building on Wednesday after our Tuesday night meetings, this is not acceptable.
NAMI Gwinnett requests a volunteer, A SMOKER (since you seek the privilege) to make certain at the end of the night that ALL the cigarette butts and trash are picked up, if no one volunteers each Tuesday night there will be NO SMOKING THAT TUESDAY NIGHT!
If NAMI Gwinnett receives a third notification from LPC regarding cigarette butts and trash the privilege of smoking will be permanently revoked.

Did you know recent changes to the DSM-5 now state that ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder can co-occur?
Are you wondering how ADHD and Autism can seem to share some characteristics and yet be very different disorders?
Many families have been told their children are affected by both ADHD and Autism but until recently, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), which defines mental health and brain-based conditions, stated they were exclusive conditions. Now those families, and others, are working out what it means for diagnosis and treatment for these conditions to be acknowledged as possibly co-occurring.
Have you recently gotten MediCARE and need to get a supplement and don’t understand it all, I have the answer

NAMI Gwinnett is a non-profit, grassroots organization consisting of persons with mental illnesses, families and friends and professionals. The term "Mental Illness" is used to cover a variety of illnesses including personality disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to name a few. NAMI provides Education, Support and Advocacy for consumers living with mental illness and Family members affected by mental illness.
