INTODUCTORY RITE

Commentator: Good afternoon brothers and sisters in Christ. Today we come to celebrate and witness with joy the union of J-ann and Jeff, in the love of Christ in the sacrament of Matrimony.

Let us offer our prayers for them that God may shower upon them the graces as they begin their new life together. Let us all be witnesses in this momentous event in the life of J-ann and Jeff.

Processional: Wedding March

Entrance Hymn

Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Commentator/ All: Amen.

Priest: The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Commentator/ All: And also with you.

Priest: Coming together as one family in faith, hope

and love, let us honor and give thanks to

the Lord for the love that he has bestowed

on J-ann and Jeff. May the Lord make their

love grow, and help them forge a future for

that love.

As one people of God, let us all together now examine ourselves, acknowledging our faults, and trying to see how much have we responded to His call of unity and love.

Commentator / All: I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thought and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask Blessed Mary, ever

Kyrie (sung)Gloria (sung or recited)

Commentator / All:Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth. Lord, God,

THE LITURGY OF THE WORDS

FIRST READING

A reading from the book of Ecclesiastes

Again, I saw vanity under the sun: it is the

Page 3: 36720250 Catholic Rite Wedding Missalette Sample

case for solitary individuals, without children or kindred; yet there is no end to all their toil, and their eyes are never satisfied with riches. “For whom am I toiling," they ask, “and depriving myself of pleasure?" This also is vanity and chasing the wind.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.

Again, if two shall sleep together, they keep each other warm; but how can one keep warm alone? And though one might prevail against another, two will prevail against one.

This is the word of the Lord.

Commentator / All: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Let our response be: How good is the Lord to all.

The Lord is kind and full of compassion.

slow to anger, abounding in love. How good is the Lord to all, compassionate to all his creatures.

All: How good is the Lord to all.

All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord, and your friends shall repeat their blessing. The eyes of all creatures look to youand you give them their food in due time.

All: How good is the Lord to all.

The Lord is just in all his waysand loving in all his deeds. He is close to all who call him,who call on him from their hearts.

All: How good is the Lord to all.

SECOND READING

A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians

Be ambitious for the higher gifts. And I am going to show you a way that is better than any of them.

If I have all the eloquence of men or of angels, but speak without love, I am simply a gong booming or a cymbal clashing. If I have the gift of prophecy, understanding

Page 4: 36720250 Catholic Rite Wedding Missalette Sample

all the mysteries there are, and knowing everything, and if I have faith in all its fullness, to move mountains, but without love, then I am nothing at all. If I give away all that I possess, piece by piece, and if I even let them take my body to burn it, but am without love, it will do me no good whatever.

Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offence, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.

This is the word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

All: Alleluia, Alleluia! As long as we love one anotherGod will live in us and his love will be complete in usAlleluia!

Commentator: Please stand for the Gospel

- For leaders in the government, and ruler of every nation in the world. That they may adhere to our Lord’s teaching of Christians service, and be instrument of unity. Let us pray to the Lord… (res.)

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

Priest: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which the earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life.

Commentator/ All: Blessed be God forever.

Priest: By the mystery of this water and wine, may we come to share in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity.

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.

Commentator / All: Blessed be God forever.

Priest: Pray, my brothers and sisters that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

Commentator / All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands, for the praise and Glory of His name, for our good and the good of all His Church.

Commentator: Please rise.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

Priest: Lord, accept our sufferings for this newly-married couple J-ann and Jeff. By your love and providence you have brought them together, now bless them all the days of their married life. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Commentator / All: Amen.

PREFACE

Priest: The Lord be with you.

Commentator / All: And also with you.

Priest: Lift up your hearts.

Commentator / All: We lift them up to the Lord.

Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

Comentator/ All: It is right to give Him thanks and praise.

Priest: Father, all powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks. By this sacrament your grace unites man and woman in an unbreakable bond of love and peace. You have designed the chaste love of husband and wife for the increase of both of the human family and of your own family born in baptism.

Page 10: 36720250 Catholic Rite Wedding Missalette Sample

You are the loving Father of the world of nature; you are the loving Father of the new creation of grace. In Christian marriage you bring together the two orders of creation: nature’s gift of children enriches the world and your grace enriches also your Church.

Through Christ the choirs of angels and all the saints praise and worship your glory. May our voices blend with theirs as we join in their unending hymn of praise:

Comentator / All: Holy (3x) Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Commentator: Please kneel.

Priest: Lord, You are Holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness. Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Before He was given up to death, a death He freely accepted, he took the bread and gave you thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to His disciples and said: TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU AND EAT IT, THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

When supper was ended, He took the cup. Again He gave you thanks and praise,

gave the cup to his disciples, and said: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT: THIS IS THE CUP OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND EVERLASTING COVENANT. IT WILL BE SHED FOR YOU AND FOR ALL MEN, SO THAT SINS MAY BE FORGIVEN. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

ACCLAMATION

Priest: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.

Commentator: Please rise.

Commentator / All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Priest: In memory of His death and resurrection, we offer You Father this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve You. May all of us who share and blood of Christ be brought together in the unity by the Holy Spirit.

Lord, remember Your Church throughout the world: make us grow in love, together with Benedict our Pope, Carlo our Bishop and all the clergy.

Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in hope of rising again, bring them and all the departed into the light of Your presence.

Page 11: 36720250 Catholic Rite Wedding Missalette Sample

Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, with the Apostles, and with all the saints, who have done Your will throughout the ages. May we praise You in union them, and give you glory, through your Son Jesus Christ.

Through Him, with Him, and in Him; in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, Almighty Father, forever and ever.

Commentator / All: Amen

Priest: Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our Savior gave us.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Commentator / All: OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, HOLY BE YOUR NAME, YOUR KINGDOM COME, YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, FORGIVE US OUR SINS, AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO SIN AGAINST US, DO NOT BRING US TO THE TEST, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

Commentator/ All: Amen.

Priest: My dear friends, let us turn to the Lord and pray that he will bless with His grace, J-ann, now married to Jeff, and

Holy Father, creator of the universe, Maker of man and woman in your likeness, source of blessing for married life. We humbly pray to you for this woman, who today is united with her husband in this Sacrament of Marriage.

May your fullest blessing come upon her and her husband, so that they may together rejoice in your gift of married love and enrich your Church with their children.

Lord, may they both praise you when they are happy and turn to you in their sorrows. May they be glad that you help them in their work and know that you are with them in their need. May they pray to you in the community of the church and be your witnesses in the world. May they reach old age in the company of their friends and come at last to the kingdom of heaven.
