2008 White Sox Draft RecapThe White Sox selected infielder Gordon Beckham in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2008 draft. Beckham, from the University of Georgia, debuted with Class A Kannapolis, hitting .310 (18-58) with two doubles, three home runs, eight RBI and 11 runs scored in 14 games. Chicago selected 20 pitchers (16 right-handers and four lefties), seven catchers, 16 infielders and six outfielders. Of their 49 picks, 29 were from the college ranks and 20 were high schoolers.
