The mission of the Boys and Girls Club of Summerside is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportuni-ties, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

2016 : a year In review The Boys and Girls Club staff are proud to say that 2016 was an amazing year! We opened the doors to programming at our Consolidated Credit Union Youth Engagement Centre, with the start of the Strengthening Families Program and Girls Strong. Our Gerard Gallant Technology Centre and Trinity Bradshaw Music Studio became accessible for youth in our community, with 20+ computers and $14,000 worth of musical instruments at

their disposal!

Our Race For Kids fundraiser had it’s most successful year, with the most teams to date, and the most funds

raised to date!

Other great fundraisers included: The Celebrity Dinner Gala & Golf Tournament, Chicks4Charity, Harley Elimi-

nation Draw and Pink Shirt Day.

2016 Also brought the official naming of the Youth Engagement Centre, with The Consolidated Credit

Union jumping on board with a $75,000 commitment!

Strengthening Families Program-

is a program for the families in the community that have youth ages 12-17 that may be struggling with substance abuse, parent/teen conflict, chronic truancy, delinquency, aggression towards other and/or self harm. The program consists of interactive skills build-ing in the areas of relationship building, parenting, communication, problem solving, anger management, and other areas of family functioning.

Girls Strong—This program

provides opportunities for girls

to gain the skills, knowledge

and attitudes they need to be

confident and self-respecting

individuals. We will help girls

discover their strengths and

abilities through curriculum

and activities. The program

will include guest speakers,

positive expression, discus-

sions, recreation activities

and outings.
