MV.Voyager Information

Previous and Potential Uses

Upon completion of MV Voyager’s conversion in Norway in the summer 2000, the vessel was engaged in diverse underwater surveys and light intervention work.In the spring of 2004, MV Voyager transferred from the Adriatic to Norway where a large 19 ton heave compensated crane was fitted and the vessel was subjectedto the rigorous vetting and subsequent approval applicable for all vessels engaged in the Norwegian offshore oil industry, NORSOK rules and full SMScertification.

The management was certified under the ISM rules, and the vessel was subsequently engaged by NTNU/HYDRO until the summer of 2004 on the Orman Langegas pipeline project on the exposed Atlantic coast of Norway.

During this operation the vessel set various templates on a wreck excavation site at 200m depth, with currents of up to 3 knots. MV Voyager served as a base forsub bottom profilers, side scan sonar and 2 large ROV’s. Excavated material was ferried to the surface, and subjected to first stage preservation onboard.

The project was one of the most sophisticated deep sea archaeological excavations ever carried out using ROV’s only. The weather conditions were extreme, andthe vessel was on site at an anchor system using 4 off, 9.5+6.5 tons anchors/chains plus some 1400 m of sectionalized and weighted down special plaited ropemoorings.

In 2005, the vessel was purchased by PT. Laut Salito, Indonesia and sailed from Norway around the Cape of Good Hope to Bali, Indonesia where she wassubsequently imported under Indonesian flag and re-classed by BKI. The vessel was utilized as a surface diving and accommodation vessel throughoutIndonesian waters for 1 year. Since 2006, the MV. Voyager has been used for a wide variety of surveys, analogue, side scan, debris, drop core, & ROV work. TheMV. Voyager has conventional marine moorings inclusive of two anchors and two winches. The Voyager can be fitted with two extra anchors so as to facilitate afour point mooring system .

Management

The MV. Voyager is entirely managed to the highest international standards incorporating the International safety management code. Day to day operationaland project management is handled by a dedicated team of Indonesian Master mariners, chartered marine engineers and expat management who arecontinuously available to provide both technical and operational support throughout project operations.
