Project 1- Research Phase Time line- trial 1

Works of DS+R 1997- 2007 Works of DS+R 2008-2017

In this phase of the project we researched a specific architecture office, and accordingly rearranged their works and achievements into a a timeline. The time line presents major events of the architects lives and reflecting on the prizes and life changing incidents that affected the architects.

Project 1- Research Phase Time line- trial 2

Works of DS+R 1997-2003 Works of DS+R 2010-2016

In this phase of the project we improved the previously finished timelines of the architects, to represent more the trophies and major changing events that took place in the career life of the architects, in this case Diller Scofidio and Renfro.

Project 1- Research Phase Concept board-trial 2

Works of DS+R concept board

In this phase of the project we used the previous timelines, to set a criteria or an architect’s profile/style. According to the buildings a few key words were associated to the architects.

Project 1- Research Phase Site analysis: topography

Works of DS+R 1997- 2007 Stage 2

Layers of cork are placed (3 mm each) representing 1 foot for each layer. Then the spaces are filled with clay to give a smooth texture. Then the whole site is sprayed with green to give the real colour and texture of the site.

Project 1- Design Phase Concept sketch

Overlaying design concept Concept model for overlaying concept

In this phase of the project we sketched a few designs then tried to transform them into 3d physical models. Using different techniques we transformed a 2d sketch into a 3d form to give conceptual idea of how the building should look like.

In this phase of the project we sketched a few designs then tried to transform them into 3d physical models. Using different techniques we transformed a 2d sketch into a 3d form to give conceptual idea of how the building should look like.

Project 1- Design Phase Concept Model- final phase

In this phase of the project we produced a variety of concept models. We also named those concept models . We had to also describe what was common between these concepts and other works by the same architects.

Project 1- Design Phase Semi-Finished Design

In this phase of the project we produced an actual design of a house that represented the conceptual ideas of our chosen architects. Left shows a stage one of the design, the two wood pieces in the photo were used to produce the overlaying waves with correct proportions. Right are photos of the semi final project.

Stage 1 Stage 2- Isometric shot Stage 2- Layout

Project 1- Design Phase Semi-Finished Design

These photos show the 4 elevations of the semi finished design, which were used later to produce hand drawn elevations and sections. These elevations were rescaled to be 1:100 to produce accurate elevation designs.

Project 1- Design Phase Semi-Finished Design

In this phase of the project we produced plans and hand drawn elevations. The plans were drawn by using the layout shot of the building, sketching the outline of the curves then drawing the plans within to accommodate needs of users. The plans evolved from a simple plan far left to furnished plans on the right. Second row far right shows the cut through section in one of the parts of the house

Project 1- Design Phase Finished Design

In this phase of the project we produced a final architecture model of the house design. This final design included more articulation and landscaping. It also had to fit the previously created site topography.

In this phase we were asked to design a small house for a single user (architect) during a span of one week. We had to be inspired by one of many architects that were on the class list. In this case Rem Koolhaas

Project 2 Design Trial models

In this phase we were asked to design a Pavillion. Where arts eill be displayed. The site is our university’s main hang out the plaza.

Project 2 Design Trial models

This was the inspirational model for the entire project. Especially the ribs and thread idea.

Project 2 Design Trial models

The model evolved form just a few random ribs to a module of two ribs connected from the top. This module was repeated 5 times. On the right is a picture of the site model.
