Parades

Our evening Feesthouden show features special entertainment each night on the Tulip Toren stage. Feesthouden begins at 7 p.m.

and ends with our lighted evening Volks parade. Thursday – Bridge WorshipBridge Worship is an exciting and passionate worship band with one focus: spirit-lead praise. Join us for worship as the community of Pella celebrates the faith that first brought its founders to America. Bridge Worship is based in Ottumwa, Iowa, as the worship team for The Bridge Church. The Bridge Church was planted in 2007 by Third Church in Pella and in 10 years has seen God move in incredible ways as we invite people into a life-changing journey with Jesus. We believe that God has called us to Rebuild, Repair, and Restore the city of Ottumwa and surrounding communities.

Friday – Pella City BandThe Pella City Band has been performing concerts in Central Park for over 130 years. At the age of 15, James Murray Cox entered the Civil War as a drummer who returned home after being captured and imprisoned at the notorious Andersonville Prison. Cox was a Pella Band Master who founded the Cox Light Infantry Band in the 1880s. Pella’s first bandstand was a rather ornate, circular, two-story wooden structure erected in the center of the park during the summer of 1887. After the initial concert on July 6 the Pella newspaper reported: “The band expects to give open air concerts every Saturday evening, which we think is a fine thing, and will tend very much in giving our city a metropolitan appearance.” The wooden bandstand was replaced with a new brick bandstand on the north side of the square in 1922, which was named in honor of James Murray Cox. This bandstand was ultimately superseded by the current Tulip Tower and stage, which were dedicated in May 1968. Regular city band concerts are still held on Thursday nights in June and July.

Saturday - Exciting event coming soon!
