“Everything we see in a Catholic church is there for a single purpose: to tell a love story.” (Cardinal Donald Wuerl)

Our Lord’s life, death, and resurrection is The Greatest Love Story Ever Told. Lent is an ideal time to meditate on the Stations of the Cross and the love of God Who would stop at nothing to draw us back to Him. Mounted in porcelain and framed in Beechwood with gold trim, each Station has been beautifully set to enhance our meditation.

Please consider sponsoring one of the Stations or some other renovation. Every sponsorship helps as we endeavor to create an atmosphere of reverence and prayer. Please see our Memorial Gift Brochure on the parish website, www.stjudechalfont.org. See the Renovations tab for building updates and the memorial brochure.

My friends in Christ,

GIVING HOPE TO ALL

Our Annual Catholic Charities Appeal has begun! This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the Catholic Charities Appeal in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia – 60 years of giving hope to all. The gift of hope is a tremendous blessing. It sheds light and gives encouragement to those in despair. This Annual Appeal is the single most important fundraising initiative in our Archdiocese.

As I shared with you last year, I have had first-hand experience observing the wonderful impact that this gift of hope provides the neediest of our Archdiocese both in my role as the Cardinal’s Delegate for the Office of Stewardship and Development and recently as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia. I continue to make the Catholic Charities Appeal the most important charity that I support each year.

Our goal for the 2018 Catholic Charities Appeal is $74,450, which is the same as it was last year. I am proud and grateful to share with you that last year, we raised over $89,000.

I am very happy to announce that once again, Rich and Kristen Ferns have agreed to serve as co-chairs of the 2018 Catholic Charities Appeal. The seven couples who served on the Appeals Committee last year have agreed to do so again this year. We will again be sponsoring parish-based trips to some of the beneficiaries of the Appeal for you and your children.

Finally, I want to thank every family who supported the Catholic Charities Appeal last year. I encourage every family to reflect on the many blessings they have been given from God and their call to good stewardship in sharing their blessings with others. Every family in the Archdiocese should have received a letter from the Archbishop, asking for your generous support of the Appeal. Please refrain from putting cash in the return envelope or in the collection baskets. I kindly ask you to please use a personal check when making your pledge for the Appeal. If you do not have an Appeal envelope, you may find envelopes on the tables at the entrances to the church. The Appeal envelope should be sent to the following address:

Catholic Charities Appeal CL # 4710 PO Box 95000 Philadelphia, PA 19195-4710

Thank you for your very important support of this Appeal.

LENTEN PARISH MISSION

Our parish leadership team has planned a Parish Mission to provide sacred time for quiet reflection and prayer for our parish community during the Lenten Season. We are very fortunate to have Father David Friel as our speaker/homilist. Father Friel was ordained to the priesthood in 2011. He has served at St. Anselm Parish in Northeast Philadelphia; as Archdiocesan Scout Chaplain and Vocation Coordinator for Philadelphia North. Currently, Father Friel is in full-time graduate studies at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, working towards a doctorate in sacred liturgy.

The dates for the Lenten Parish Mission are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, March 11, 12, and 13. On all the nights, the prayer services will begin at 7:00 PM. On Monday night, March 12, we will have a dozen priests available for Confessions. Please try to join us for this Parish Mission. God bless!
