WINTER BIBLE STUDY:

Andrew Bates will lead this year’s Winter Bible

Study, which will begin on the evening of Fri-

day, Jan. 31, and will conclude Sunday, Feb. 2.

The first session will begin Friday, Jan. 31, at

6pm on the 3rd Floor. On Saturday, Feb. 1, at

4pm, we will have an open gym. Saturday’s

session will start at 6pm on the 3rd Floor. For

Sunday’s session, the youth will meet at the reg-

ular time for Sunday morning small group. We

will have dinner on the grounds after the morn-

ing church service and there will be no Sunday

night services.

FATIH & FAMILY DAY:

We will attend Faith & Family Day at Louisiana

Tech University on Saturday, Feb. 8. The stu-

dents will eat supper on campus and will attend

a Tech Bulldogs basketball game and a Chris-

tian rock concert in the Thomas Assembly Cen-

ter. The cost is $5 per person.

WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER:

The Women’s Resource Center in Natchitoches

is a pro-life pregnancy center that helps steer

women away from abortion; additionally, they

provide services like free pregnancy tests and

pregnancy education. The center is in need of

supplies, the youth are conducting a drive to

gather as many of these supplies as we can, and

we will deliver them to the center on Monday,

Feb. 17 (the week of Spring Break). For more

information on this project (like a list of needed

supplies), please contact me at the church of-

fice.

Children’s Ministry

We will have lots of activities in the month of February, be sure to check out the calendar online and watch for

text and mail-out reminders. The Winter Bible Study will be a special treat with Sparrow Chalk Art Ministry lead-

ing our study of Glow for Jesus.

RA’s will need to be at church early on February 2nd for our “Soup”er Bowl Sunday. We will meet in the parlor

at 9:40am. Remember to bring your can of soup for the Winn Community Food Shelter and place it in the contain-

er for your favorite team.

GA’s will be selling Valentines Feb 9th & 16th prior to Sunday school and morning worship. Valentine’s will be

delivered on February 16th during Sunday school. All donations will be used for the GA Summer Camp Mission

offering. Stop by and select your GA Valentine to support missions. Please pray for our volunteers, guest speak-

ers, and staff as they lead and prepare for the activities this month.

Education Ministry This weekend is a significant event in the life of our church. We will experience an in-depth study of the book of Colos-

sians. We will be led by a Bible scholar. We will have an opportunity to unlock the message of this letter written so long

ago, and see how we can use this information in our lives today. It will be uplifting and informative.

This weekend is also a significant event in our country. Professional football teams who have battled their way to the top

will play the ultimate game of champions we know as the Super Bowl. Last year this big game was played in our own

state. Baptists were on hand to meet any ministry needs that came to light. Kay Bennett, who is the director of Baptist

Friendship House was very involved in this ministry. Today Ms. Bennett explains, "The Super Bowl is commonly known as the single largest incidence of human trafficking in

the United States each year." Right beside the fun and pagentry of this big game, people are being bought and sold as slaves

for the pleasure of the purchaser. It went on in Louisiana last year and will be going on in New Jersey this year.

According to enditmovement.com, the human trafficking industry brings in nearly $32 billion dollars each year--

that's 139 times more than the $230 million made by broadcast ad sales for the 2013 Super Bowl. They further state that the

average slave is sold for no more than $90. The cheapest ticket for the 2013 Super Bowl started at $650.

Choose the events that request your time and attention wisely.

See you at Winter Bible Study,

Theresa
