Beasley Newsletter
Dear Families: It’s hard to believe that it is that time of the year-time to close out another great school year at Beasley! Be sure to read and keep the district calendar included in this newsletter. This has been an incredible year of learning and fun! Thanks to our terrific staff and your continued support, our school community continues to grow and move forward, always putting the students first! I challenge each family to try this with your children. I saw a version of this on Facebook and thought it looked like a great idea. Here is a summer checklist to do before your kids turn on the TV/computer/Ipad, etc. Have you:
Made your bed, got dressed and eaten breakfast? Brushed your teeth and hair? Read for 20 minutes? Wrote for 20 minutes or practiced math facts? Straightened up/cleaned 1 room? Played outside for 30 minutes? Made or built something creative (legos, blocks, crafts, art, coloring, etc)? Helped someone in the family?
If you have, then you can have screen time and watch TV, play on the computer or IPad, etc. School may be almost over for the year, but learning never ends. We hope to see your family at one or more of our summer Jaguar Journeys. Have a safe and happy summer!! ~Mrs. Deane

Beasley Fine Arts Day 2016
On Friday, May 6th, several artists and performers from around St. Louis came to Beasley to
share their talents with our students and staff. Sponsored by the Beasley PTO, Fine Arts Day
provided students with opportunities to learn about both visual and performing arts from
workshops and performances throughout the day. Participants included the Bernard Middle
School Jazz Band, storytelling and drumming by Kenya Ajanaku, folk musician Nancy Collis,
stone carver Dr. Amy George, author/illustrator Dan Killeen, artist Ruthie Brown, Jazz St.
Louis education coordinator Andy Ament, guitar player and former Beasley grandparent Jim
Coleman, the Gateway Science Academy string ensemble with Beasley alum Natalie
VanWinkle, and potter from Glazed and Confused. Special thanks to the students for being
such polite audience members/participants and to the Fine Arts Day committee for putting

Volunteer Tea
This year we had Sundae Treats. All of our volunteers make Beasley complete so they joined
us for a special sweet treat. We had a great turnout! There were 29 volunteers in
attendance. We truly appreciate all of our volunteers whether you were able to make it or not
to our tea. Volunteers are the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae!
We appreciate all the time and effort you put forth to make Beasley an awesome school.
Good News! We have been recycling all Frito Lay bags to earn money for our
school. Now Terracycle will recycle any snack bag. It doesn't matter if it Frito Lay. So lets recycle Generic brands, Rold Gold, Veggie Straws,
etc. Thanks for your continued support in our recycling efforts! Please keep saving over the summer from all your picnics and BBQ's.
Just put them in a bag and turn in next school year! Any questions, just ask Mrs. Hagely
Congratulations to Kindergarten, 1ST & 2nd grade classes, who brought in 1,461

bringing them in and don’t forget our summer challenge –

End of year reminders:
Medication: No medication can be stored here over the summer even if the student will be
returning next year.
If your child has medicine at school you will need to make arrangements to pick it up
on or before the last day of school. We cannot send medicine home on the bus. We
will be working with you as we call for refills to only have the number of pills
to finish the year.
Please contact the Health Room with any questions.
Information for next year:
All of this years 3rd
graders received a letter and form advising you of the need for a
physical for next year. Please have this done over the summer and return a copy to
the Health Room.
Students entering Kindergarten next year must have proof of up to date
immunizations on file in the Health Room prior to the first day of school.
We also ask for a physical and a completed lead screening form.
Please check for any clothing your child may have borrowed throughout the year and
return it before the last day. It will have Beasley clearly marked on it.
Have a safe summer,
Mrs. Wright RN
