31ST ANNUAL OAKTON CLASSIC
September 1, 2016
Dear Students, Parents, and Marching Band Fans,
On behalf of our faculty and staff at Oakton High School, I am delighted to welcome you to the 31st Annual Oakton Classic. We are honored to host this incredible marching band competition on Saturday,
October 1, 2016. The Oakton Classic brings student musicians together on a field to display their skills and abili-ties outside of the classroom.
This year, the Marching Captains from Christopher Newport University will be our exhibition band. An event of this caliber could not happen without the band directors, parents, and many volunteers who have helped make the Classic possible. We extend our sincere thanks to all involved that cotinine to support the Oakton Classic through your time and talents.
Best wishes to all participants. Oakton High School has earned the Virginia Honor Band distinction 21 times so we understand that dedication, talent, and hard work is required to maintain the level of excellence that will be displayed on the field at the Classic Invitation. I know that the Oakton Classic will provide everyone with a day of entertainment and a great respect for the efforts you have put into preparing for this competition.
Sincerely,
John A. Banbury, Principal

Thank you!On behalf of everyone at Oakton High School, the Band Boosters and the Marching Cougars, we thank the many volunteers – parents, friends, faculty, staff and students – who worked to make the 2016 Oakton Classic a success.
Our sincere appreciation is also extended to Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire and Rescue, the Fairfax County Police from the Fair Oaks Station, our judges, announcer, and all our sponsors and advertisers.
A special thank you to the Marching Captains Marching Band from Christopher Newport University and to all the dedicated, talented, hard-working high school bands here today.
