Reflection: Our church today is facing a really sad dilemma, with the hard to understand or

forgive cases of abuse by the clergy and the inadequate responses and excuses that seem to be making matters even worse.

I find myself in a rather difficult predicament sometimes when asked how I can still have my ongoing faith as a Catholic.

For me today’s gospel is a timely message of reassurance from God. It is the same reassurance that Jesus gave his disciples those many years ago if they obeyed Him and lived as He had asked them to. “Know that I am with you – Yes – to the end of time!” Personally this is a promise that gives me hope. It’s like a loving parent encouraging their child and giving the child the courage to carry on; relying on the promise of being with them always, irrespectively.

It is with this in mind that we should continue to have the courage of our conviction that the commission we received from Jesus is to be carried out. It is his parting message to us; his final request; that no matter what, we should take heed. We are called to be witnesses - to make

disciples of all nations by observing the commandments he gave us - and this must be our

focus.

We have the greatest of reassurances from him that He will be with us till the end of time seeing us through! Cynthia White – Pastoral Leadership Team

GOSPEL: Matthew 28: 16-20

The eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged to meet them. When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated. Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.’
