TASK | 11

A new relationship with Karen Donnelly, a faculty member in Stanbridge University’s Occupational Therapy program, brought Stanbridge student volunteers to our TASK event. These hardworking

students applied their OT knowledge and skills at the Life’s Toolbox station, helping parents understand the various assessments involved in the activities so that they could be more engaged observers when working with their kids at home. Stanbridge University offers degrees in nursing and allied health and promotes student engagement in the local community through volunteerism. By involving students in community service, the school hopes to direct students’ attention to others, cultivate compassion and better prepare them for future service professions.

Another exciting addition to this year’s event was a partnership with the Kohl’s Cares program. With the support of Kohl’s managers Jackie Magallan and Sabrina Lopez, who coordinated the involvement of their employees, ten Kohl’s staff members from the Tustin and Huntington Beach Kohl’s stores volunteered their time to support TASK and people with disabilities. Thank you, Kohl’s, for lending a hand to TASK!
