Prayer for the sick… Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in your hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you do for the love of us. Amen.
On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27th Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 A.M in our church. At
this time you can come to pray and to Thank God for all the blessings you have received through His goodness and mer-cy. Our parish food pantry is quite empty; many needy people come to the rectory for something to eat because they are hungry. If you would like to share some non-perishable food items to fill our food pantry, please bring your donations to Mass on Thanksgiving Day and place them on the steps in front of the altar.. Specially can items such as: ► soups ► Beans ► Vegetables ► Fruits ► Cereal ► Powder milk ► Tuna Helping hands to carry the food donations to the rectory after the Mass will also be much appreciated. St. Mary’s Parish News November 23, 2014 The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ
the King Matthew 25:31-46
Jesus teaches that when the Son of Man comes in glory, he will judge the nations, separating the sheep from the goats. Background on the Gospel Reading Today's Gospel passage is the conclusion of Jesus' discourse with his
disciples. It is about the end of time, the coming of the Son of Man, and the final judgment. We hear this description of the final judgment at the conclusion of our liturgical year, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King. In the context of Matthew's Gos-pel, this passage might also be read as a conclusion of Mat-thew's report on Jesus' life and ministry; the remaining chapters report the events of Jesus' Passion and Resurrection. In today's Gospel, Jesus describes to his disciples the scene of the judgment of the Son of Man. All the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate them as a shepherd separates sheep and goats upon their return from the pasture. The judgments made by the Son of Man will be based upon the acts of mercy shown to the least ones—the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the ill, and the imprisoned. Indeed, Jesus, who suf-fered on the Cross, identifies himself with the least ones. Recall that last week's parable of the talents taught us that the gifts that we have been given are intended to be used for the service of others, especially the least among us. Our judg-ment before God will be based not only on how we have used these gifts and talents, but also on how we have extended our-selves in service to these least ones. Indeed, Jesus tells us that whenever we have served these least ones, we have served Christ himself. When we read today's Gospel in the context of the chapters that follow in Matthew's Gospel, we learn the extent to which Jesus identifies with the least ones. In accepting death on the cross, Jesus shows himself to be one of the hungry, the na-ked, the ill, and the imprisoned. To accept Jesus is to accept him who suffered and died on the Cross as one of the least ones.
Oplatki, meaning "holy bread" are thin sheets of wafer embossed with figures of the Christ Child or other Christmas scenes. The custom of exchanging this wafer at the Christmas Eve supper holds a special place in the heritage of Polish &
Eastern European people. The wafers can be purchase at the rectory. Prices are $2 for a large package of 4, and 75¢ each or 3/$2 for the small wafer.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has come to the aid of communities nationwide for over forty years in an effort to eradicate poverty. During World Youth Day, on July 25, 2013, Pope Francis told us, “Never tire of working for a more just world, marked by greater solidarity.” The CCHD puts these words into action by funding housing, education, the development of job opportu-nities and other social-justice initiatives. Projects supported by the CCHD go beyond providing for basic needs. They work to build healthy, sustainable futures for com-munities. For example, for several years now, the Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation (PBMR) has been transforming the way communities engage in restorative justice practices to develop a cul-ture of nonviolence in Chicago’s South Side. The PBMR has also de-veloped a strong leadership model for at-risk youth to facilitate peace circles in areas of high conflict. In addition, the PBMR assists families to address unjust legislation surrounding juveniles without parole. The heart of the PBMR is about building human relationships; it carries on Christ’s mission “to bring glad tidings to the poor…liberty to captives…sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free” (Luke 4:18). This Collection is the primary source of funding for the CCHD’s anti-poverty grants and education programs. Collection funds offer new hope each year to those living in poverty throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago. Fifty percent of the Collection’s proceeds stay here in our archdiocese to fight poverty in our communities and defend the dignity of our neighbors, and the other 50 percent go to funding programs nationwide. This year, the Appeal Weekend for the CCHD is November 15–16, and the Collection Weekend is November 22–23. Please help us defend human dignity and show Christ’s charity to those in need. Entonces dirá el rey a los de su derecha: "Venid vosotros, benditos de mi Padre; heredad el reino preparado
para vosotros desde la creación del mundo. Porque tuve hambre y me disteis de comer, tuve sed y me disteis de beber, fui forastero y me hospedasteis, estuve desnudo y me vestisteis, enfermo y me visitas-teis, en la cárcel y vinisteis a verme." Entonces los justos le contesta-rán: "Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos con hambre y te alimentamos, o con sed y te dimos de beber?; ¿cuándo te vimos forastero y te hospeda-mos, o desnudo y te vestimos?; ¿cuándo te vimos enfermo o en la cárcel y fuimos a verte?" Y el rey les dirá: "Os aseguro que cada vez que lo hicisteis con uno de éstos, mis humildes hermanos, conmigo lo hicisteis." Y entonces dirá a los de su izquierda: "Apartaos de mi, mal-ditos, id al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y sus ángeles. Por-que tuve hambre y no me disteis de comer, tuve sed y no me disteis de beber, fui forastero y no me hospedasteis, estuve desnudo y no me vestisteis, enfermo y en la cárcel y no me visitasteis." Entonces tam-bién éstos contestarán: "Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos con hambre o con sed, o forastero o desnudo, o enfermo o en la cárcel, y no te asisti-mos?" Y él replicará: "Os aseguro que cada vez que no lo hicisteis con uno de éstos, los humildes, tampoco lo hicisteis conmigo." Y éstos irán al castigo eterno, y los justos a la vida eterna.

I zgromadzą się przed Nim wszystkie narody, a On oddzieli jednych [ludzi] od drugich, jak pasterz oddziela owce od kozłów. Owce postawi po prawej, a kozły po swojej lewej stronie. Wtedy odezwie się Król do tych po prawej stronie: Pójdźcie, błogosławieni
Ojca mojego, weźcie w posiadanie królestwo, przygotowane wam od założenia świata! Bo byłem głodny, a daliście Mi jeść; byłem spragniony, a daliście Mi pić; byłem przybyszem, a przyjęliście Mnie; byłem nagi, a przyodzialiście Mnie; byłem chory, a odwiedziliście Mnie; byłem w więzieniu, a przyszliście do Mnie. Wówczas zapytają sprawiedliwi: Panie, kiedy widzieliśmy Cię głodnym i nakarmiliśmy Ciebie? spragnionym i daliśmy Ci pić? Uroczystość Jezusa Chrystusa Króla Wszechświata
Uroczystość Chrystusa Króla do liturgii wprowadził papież Pius XI encykliką Quas Primas z 11 grudnia 1925 r. na zakończenie roku jubileuszowego. Na-kazał wtedy, aby we wszystkich kościołach tego dnia po głównym nabożeństwie przed wystawionym Najświętszym Sakramentem odmówić litanię do Najświętszego Serca Pana Je-zusa oraz akt poświęcenia rodzaju ludzkiego Najświętszemu Ser-cu. Początkowo uroczystość obchodzono w ostatnią niedzielę października; reforma soborowa przeniosła jej termin na ostatnią niedzielę roku liturgicznego. Uroczystość ta ma nam uświadomić, że Chrystus jest Królem całego stworzenia - wszechświata. Jego panowanie nie wynika z jakichś dokonań, z wybrania czy z wywalczenia tej godności. On jest Królem, bo jest Bogiem-Człowiekiem, Stworzycielem i Odku-picielem. Z tego właśnie tytułu ma absolutną władzę. Bóg nie tyl-ko stworzył świat, ale ciągle go stwarza i nim włada. Królestwo Jezusa jest czymś zupełnie innym od wszystkich królestw ziem-skich. Dotyczy ono wszystkich narodów, wszystkich miejsc i wszystkich czasów. Ono już istnieje w Kościele, choć jeszcze nie zostało do końca wypełnione. Dlatego właśnie w codziennej mo-dlitwie, którą zostawił nam sam Chrystus, wołamy z nadzieją: Przyjdź królestwo Twoje! Chociaż Chrystus nigdy nie nosił korony królewskiej, nie trzymał w ręku berła i nie zasiadał na tronie królewskim, tytuł Króla najzupeł-niej Mu się należy i to w zakresie, jakim nie dysponował żaden władca świata. Władcy ziemscy nabywają tytuł królewski przez dziedziczenie, nominację i podbój. Wszystkie trzy tytuły dają Chrystusowi pełne prawo do korony i najwyższej władzy. Jako człowiek, w swej ludz-kiej naturze, pochodził on przecież w prostej linii od króla Izraela, Dawida. Wykazują to Ewangeliści, podając Jego rodowód (Mt 1, 5-16; Łk 3, 23-38). W narodzie wybranym ta prawda była tak po-spolicie znana, że powszechnie nazywano Go Synem Dawida (Mt 22, 41-46; Mk 12, 35-37; Łk 1, 27. 32; 20, 41-44; 2 Tm 2, 8; Ap 22, 16). Tak więc z krwi i dziedziczenia Chrystus miał prawo do tytułu Króla. Chrystus jest ponadto Synem Bożym, naturą równy Bogu, drugą Osobą Trójcy Przenajświętszej. Jako taki jest Panem nieba i zie-mi, Panem najwyższym i absolutnym, z którym wszelkie królestwa ziemskie nie mogą się porównywać. Aby to powszechne władztwo Jezusa podkreślić, liturgia dodała do tytułu "Król" dopełnienie "Wszechświata".
Święto Dziękczynienia W Stanach Zjednoczonych w najbliższy czwar-tek 27 listopada obchodzone jest Święto Dzięk-czynienia. Z tej okazji celebrowana będzie w naszym kościele jedna uroczysta Msza św. o godz. 9-ej z rana. Prosimy wszystkich o przyniesienie kon-serwowanej żywności, którą będziemy składać przed ołta-rzem przed złożeniem darów. Żywność ta później zostanie rozdzielona ubogim. Biuro parafialne będzie zamknięte do poniedziałku.
