Op Saterdag 14 September kom Christene vanoor die hele Mpumalanga, en ook landwyd, om 12:00 by die Longtompas se bid-klippe bymekaar vir 'n Turn-2-God saamtrek. Louis Britzz en sy musiekspan sal die lofprysing lei en ds Elza Meyer is die spreker. Hierdie saamtrek maak deel uit van 'n grootskaalse inisiatief om 'n Tebelo Kinderdorp in

Lydenburg op te rig. Die afgelope naweek het n toevallige verbyganger hierdie wonderlike foto geneem op die terein waar Turn-2-God gaan plaasvind. Die foto is geneem deur Heinrich Hattingh en die gepaste titel is: Biddende klippe.

THE SAPS confirmed the arrest of the alleged rapist of a 17 year old victim of Mashishing.The alleged rape occurred in October 2012. The victims stepfather allegedly raped the 17 year old before a neighbour came to her rescue. The stepfather then cut his own throat with a knife, supposedly trying to commit suicide. He however fled the scene while neighbours awaited the ambulance.The man was arrested after police followed up on information received

Rapist caught red handedfrom members from the public. He was traced and subsequently found on 15 May at Tekamahala near Mkhuhlu. He was arrested and is currently still in custody. The mans bail application hearing was scheduled for 23 May. The name of the suspect is being withheld as it may expose the identity of the minor victim. SAPS management would like to extend their appreciation to members of the public who assisted them with information. Without the help of the public it would have been a struggle to apprehend the suspect. Management also congratulated the investigating team involved in the arrest.The alledged rapist

On Thursday the new Tubatse Crossing Regional Shopping Centre in Burgersfort, Limpopo was met with an empty parking area and everyone in Burgersfort warning each other not to go to the mall. A part of the community used the opening as a platform to air their grievances on issues. This however did not deter the employees and shoppers that already lined up in the mall to be part of this historical opening. OLD GRUMPYFeet of clay

I refuse to watch programmes such as Idols, Big Brother or Survivor. In fact I believe the glorification or worshipping of human beings is a sin.They all mostly have feet of clay. A case in point is our government leaders who shamelessly deny any wrongdoing in Guptagate. No, they immediately sacrifice their underlings. Everybody knows many senior politicians have a very friendly (and

apparently profitable) relationship with the Guptas. That makes them and their cronies immune to any thing associated with that particular family, who is also suspect. Just think about the scandals such as the arms deal, Nkandlagate, and others. These are our idols. Our leaders. Sies man, where is the self respect!Take the current TV hero case. The man was given a state funeral that cost as much as a few houses for the poor. He is idolised, but he is accused of having had 18 extra marital affairs! And so it goes on.A sports legend who is now seriously ill, cheated on his wife. Bribes are rife in soccer and cricket. Remember the guy in the plane crash?Almost every superstar you can name, has been embroiled in scandal.

Take our own peaceful little town. How many politicians in our scandalous municipality are clean? Who do you trust?Take the SAPS. There you might actually find a few good and decent policemen and women. A policeman has just been wounded in Kruger Park for being part of a rhino poaching gang and he was not the first. The gang involved in the local stealing of motorbikes surely have police / security connections. If not, why is it impossible for competent, decent and clever policemen to apprehend them?Look at some church leaders. Extramarital affairs and some have computers full of pornography. I presume it is used for research purposes?What about dishonest business people. Do you know a few? This sad state permeates and erodes our society. They all have feet of clay.

Sy lig ons in dat pewter by Sandra se Kunswinkel beskikbaar is. Daarna bespreek sy, en wys 'n voorbeeld van 'n slingersak van Crazy Patchwork. Sy waarsku die dames dat dit 'n baie moeilike en ingewikkelde ontwerp vir breiwerk is en wens hulle alle sukses toe met die maak van hul eie slingersakke.Indien u ook graag nuwe vaardighede wil aanleer of net 'n lekker koppie tee wil kom drink is u baie welkom om ons volgende vergadering op 12 Junie by te woon, waar me. THE Mashishing Thusong Service Centre built by GlencoreXstrata was opened last week and cost R8 million as part of GlencoreXstrata corporate social responsibility.The Thusong Service Centre is a one-stop centre that provides government services and information. Residents can access information and access a wide range of government services at the centre without travelling long distances. The centre will house the following services and offices: Thaba Chweu Municipality (Pay point), Khulangwane Youth Centre, Library, Cotlands (ECD P r o j e c t s ) , S m a l l E n t e r p r i s e Development Agency (SEDA), Love Life, S A S S A a n d a g y m n a s i u m . T h e municipality will be engaging other government departments and agencies to occupy available offices at the centre t o a l s o r e n d e r s e r v i c e s t o t h e community. Apart from the Centre, the company has built a wellness clinic at Lydenburg hospital, four classrooms at Estralita School for the mentally disabled and a community hall. THE Maxi's food group, a division of Taste Holdings, has started with their marketing campaign for the Mpumalanga region and is aiming to drive transactional growth through all of their identified marketing initiatives. The biggest focus area at present will be on primary school children in the region. The kids, and the schools that they represent, will be encouraged to express their creativity by means of their own marketing campaigns as they will need to design an advert for Maxi's to win. Schools will be sent entry forms for the kids to take part and the aspiring creatives will be urged to bring their completed advert to their nearest Maxi's store. Weekly winners will be chosen out of the two categories that have been allocated, namely that of children in Grades 1 to 3 and those in Grades 4 to 7. Schools will also be rewarded as the school with the most entries will win a cash prize of R5 000. An overall winner will be chosen from the accumulating weekly winners.

n AFTREE OORD is gewis hoog op die lys vir talle Lydenburgers te oordeel aan die g o e i e o p k o m s b y d i e o n l a n g s e inligtingsvergadering wat deur Pam Golding en Sterkspruit Estates in die NG Suid-saal gehou is.Die doel van die vergadering was om belangstellendes op hoogte te hou met die planne en vordering aan die beplande Bishops Leefstyl-Landgoed wat bo in Sterkspruit se Fase 3 gebou gaan word.Ontwikkelaar Martiens van der Merwe het Sterkspruit Estates se verbintenis tot 'n bekostigbare maar lewensvatbare produk beklemtoon, en vrae beantwoord. Konsultant Eben Muller het daarna n uiteensetting gegee van die belangrikste vereistes vir so n leefstyl-ontwikkeling. Die basiese behoeftes waaraan fasiliteite moet voldoen is bekostigbare tuisversorging en verswakte versorging wat lewensvatbaar is en onafhanklikheid. Muller het beklemtoon dat n verswakte versorgingsafdeling nie op die perseel hoef te wees nie en beter tuishoort in die nabyheid van n hospitaal.Die plan is om sowat 200 eenhede van verskillende groottes beskikbaar te stel en om hierin gelei te word deur mense wat in die projek wil inkoop. Daar sal n klubhuis wees waar n verpleegkundige n kantoor sal h en n tuisversorgingsprogram van hier af sal bestuur. Die dienste van n maatskaplike werker is ook belangrik. Die plan is om ten minste vyf persent van elke eenheid se

verkoopprys in twee heffingsfondse te stort om vir sowel die tuisversorgingsdiens en gesubsidieerde verswakte sorg te voorsien.Daar sal ten minste veertien beddens in die verswakte sorg-eenheid (Care Village) wees om voorsiening te maak vir die inwoners van die landgoed wat verswak en opgeneem wil word. Om die lewensvatbaarheid van die versorgingseenheid verder te verhoog, word daarna gekyk om bykomende selfsorg-eenhede daar te bou. Hierdie eenhede sal gerig wees op ouer persone wat verswak is maar nog onafhanklik wil wees en byvoorbeeld n eie kombuisie wil h. Eben het ook gepraat oor die noodsaaklikheid van n Alzheimer-afdeling.Ek is oortuig dat, indien die ontwikkelaars daarin kan slaag om aan al die vereistes vir n volhoubare leefstyl-landgoed te voldoen, hulle aan ouer persone in die gemeenskap die geleentheid sal bied om in hul eie omgewing af te tree. Dit sal ook aan ouers van kinders wat hier woon en werk, die geleentheid gee om nader aan hulle kinders te beweeg en dit vir kinders moontlik maak om vir hulle ouers te voorsien en terselfdertyd n goeie belegging te maak, glo Muller.Gerda Whitehorn van Pam Golding is aangestel om die projek te bemark. DIE Wildevy 4x4 Gesinsdag op 27 Julie 2013 vier sy 10 de bestaansjaar! Die Wildevy manne is 'n nie winsgewende organsasie wat daargestel is deur manne uit die gemeenskap om fondse vir minderbevoorregtes in die gemeenskap in te samel. Die 4x4 gesinsdag is slegs een van die projekte wat jaarliks aangebied word.Graag wil hulle alle 4x4 entoesiaste, asook die publiek, nooi om deel te kom wees van die dag, wat ook die 10de bestaanjaar van die welbekende dag is. Dit vind plaas op 27 Julie 2013 by PLM boerderye, 10km buite Burgersfort, op die Lydenburg-R37 pad. Die hele gemeenskap, wat besighede en mynbedrywe insluit, is betrokke by hierdie dag om dit so lekker as moontlik vir die hele familie te maak. Hierdie 4X4 dag groei elke jaar geweldig baie. In 2012 het 120 4X4 voertuie deelgeneem en ongeveer 7 000 tot 10 000 besoekers het die dag saam met ons geniet. Die baan is baie uitdagend en interesant, dit is egter nie so opgestel om normale viertrek voertuie te beskadig nie. Die roete is uiteengesit sodat hele gesin kan deelneem aan pret uitdagings soos lemoene gooi, windbuks skiet en ander 4x4 verwante uitdagings. Daar is groot pryse te wen deur almal!Di jaar stel ons ook die Marone bergroete in vir mense wat nie die 4x4 uitdaging wil doen nie, die sluit in 'n begeleide toer deur die wildskamp en roete teen die uitdagende Marone berg, bo op die berg sal daar vir deelnemers heerlike eetgoed en verversings gebied word, die eens in 'n leeftyd geleentheid kos slegs R1000,00. Slegs 'n beperkte hoeveelheid voertuie kan hieraan deelneem. Na die sukses van Die Wildevy MTB bergfiets wedren in 2012 gaan ons groter en beter! Hierdie is 'n gratis diens aan die publiek. Daar sal ook kampgeriewe beskikbaar wees vir die mense wat van ver af kom kuier.Inskrywingsgelde vir die dag is R700.00 per voertuig wat deelneem. Allooiwiele - wees versigtig!n BESORGDE motorrubriek leser, wat n plaaslike ingenieursfirma bedryf, het my laasweek gekontak met n ontstellende storie.Baie motorgeesdriftiges, soos ek, hou van n mooi stel allooiwiele Mags op sy motor. Al my voertuie het allooiwiele op. Baie motors word vandag met allooiwiele verkoop.Wanneer jy wiele op jou motor laat pas, moet jy mooi oplet. Die wielboute se gate en die gat vir die naaf in die middel, is nie gestandardiseer op motors nie. Omdat sekere allooiwiele gemaak is om op meer as een motor te pas, word die gat vir die naaf gewoonlik groter gemaak.Mense wat dan die wiele koop, is dood tevrede wanneer die gate van die wiele met die boute (studs) van die wiel oplyn en monteer hulle.Baie min mense weet van die sogenaamde spigot ring of spigot washer wat ook gemonteer moet word. Dit is gewoonlik n harde plastiekwasser wat saam met die wiele (nuut) verkoop moet word en wat spesifiek gemaak is vir jou motor se naaf in die middel. Hierdie ring pas styf in die senter gat van die wiel en styf om jou motor se naaf, om daardie gaping op te vul. Belangriker nog, as jy jou wiele laat afhaal vir ballansering, moet hierdie ringe inspekteer word vir verwringing. In die meeste gevalle moet nuwe ringe monteer word. Daar is egter baie min bande handelaars wat hierdie ringe in voorraad het, omdat daar so n groot variasie van wiele (rims) en motors is. Die ou ringe en soms geen ringe nie, word dan terug geplaas. Hierdie is veral n probleem waar mense tweedehandse wiele vir hulle voertuie koop, want daar is byna nooit spigot washers ingesluit nie, of dit pas nie op die ander motor nie en word gegnoreer.Nou kom die probleem. Die wielmontering is net afhanklik van die vier of vyf boute wat dit vashou. Behalwe dat dit baie groot stremming plaas op die bietjie metaal om die wielgate, sentreer die wiele dan moeilik.Sodra jy dan n slaggat, hobbel ens. tref, is daar n geweldige opwaartse en afwaartse druk op die wiel. Hierdie buitensporige druk, wat eksponensieel met snelheid toeneem, is veronderstel om deur die spigot ring absorbeer te word en die druk by wielboute te verlig.Ons ingenieur rapporteer dat hy met ons slegte paaie, al hoe meer gebreekte wiele kry wat om die boute gebreek of gekraak is en dikwels is die boute self in die motor se nawe afgebreek of n stud is afgebreek, wat duur is om te herstel. Jy kan selfs die hele naaf samestelling op jou motor verloor, wat buitensporig duur is.Bo en behalwe die koste, is die situasie natuurlik lewensgevaarlik!Ons wil dus n ernstige beroep op ons motorentoesiaste doen om wanneer hulle

sierwiele koop, seker te maak dat die korrekte spigot rings gelewer en monteer word. Ek dring inteendeel aan op minstens een ekstra stel ringe, wat ek in my motor se bak hou, want hulle word soms beskadig met die afhaal van wiele vir nuwe bande.As jou bande handelaar nie die nodige ringe het nie, laat hy jou wiele meet, die naaf meet en jou motor se model aanteken en vir jou nuwe ringe bestel. Jy kan dan die motor terugneem sodra hy die onderdele gekry het.Moet onder geen omstandighede met allooiwiele ry sonder die regte ringe, wat in perfekte toestand is nie. Padtoets Nissan Hardbody NP 300ONS het di week weer die Nissan NP300 Hardbody onder hande gehad. Di keer die enkel kajuit 2.5 HI-RIDER LWB S/Cab weergawe. Die Hardbody is nie onbekend aan ons nie. Hoewel dit al n paar jaar kom, word daar van tyd tot tyd klein veranderinge aangebring.Nissan SA is nie van plan om die Hardbody gou te vervang nie. Dit is gemik op die werksmark en is oor die jare so verbeter dat dit ten volle uitgesorteer is. Dat dit n probleemvrye voertuig is, is gewis. Uit n suiwer prys oogpunt, met uitstekende gehalte, is dit goeie waarde vir geld.In die nuwe een is daar nou bekerhouers bygevoeg, maar die vernaamste ding is dat die waarborg nou die beste in klas is. Ons praat van 150 000 km of ses jaar! Vir meeste kopers beteken dit nou dat sy bakkie nog onder waarborg sal wees by die tyd dat hy dit inruil! Die diensplan van 90 000 km of drie jaar bly van krag. Goedkoper bedryfskoste en gemoedsrus is daar nie.In die kajuit en op die pad was die kenmerke wat ons aan gewoond geraak het nog daar. Die 2.5 TDI Navara enjin trek soos n bom. Met 98 kW en 304 Nm is die bakkie nie lui nie. Teen 120 km/u draai die enjin sowat 2 800 opm en teen 140 sowat 3 200 opm. Met ons sleepwerk op die jaarlikse Malongane ekspedisie het Wenakker se 2.5 TDI Workhorse bakkie ons telkens verstom met uitstekende brandstofverbruik en goeie sleepvermo.Ratskakeling is seepglad en die stuur lig. Remme is goed.Die enkelkajuit is ruim en baie gemaklik. Dit kan wettiglik n 1.5 ton sleepwa trek.Daar is twee lugsakke, ABS, leerbedekte kragstuur, lugversorging, sentrale sluit, kragruite, n skuifruit agter en n rolstaaf. Dubbelkajuitmodelle spog met nog meer luukses.Ek het nie veel te kla oor die NP 300 nie. Die linkervoetrus en koppelaarpedaal is biejie naby aan mekaar en groot voete sal dalk pla.Die rit is tipies Hardbody baie hard. Ek vermoed dat die toetsvoertuig se bande dalk baie hard gepomp was. Hierdie harde rit is soos die Hilux egter tekenend van n soliede onderstel en vere wat die pyn sal kan vat. Dit voel asof die bakkie n leeftyd sal hou.Die goeie nuus is dus dat kopers wat bang is die Hardbody gaan van die toneel af verdwyn, gerus kan wees. Die uitmuntende waarborg en die feit dat al die tandekry probleme van nuwe voertuie lankal in die Hardbody uitgesorteer is, behoort kopers gerus te stel.n Bul van n bakkie. Karabo Segodi, Joshua Kayembe, Frans Kupa, Ronald Murdoch-Oats, Mokgethi Segoane, and Jaco Wessels all played for U/19 against Witbank Christian Academy and Young Harvest Christian School. They played 2 games against each school and the day was a success even though they did not win all of their games, as they had a good team spirit and learned a lot from

their opponents. Ofentse Kekana, Thato Tshiloane, Mkhanyisi Mqadi, Joel Choma, Samkelo Teledi, Odirile Mabelane, Ino Makamure, Thabiso Letsie, Raphael Lattanzio, and Tshepo Moletsi all played for U/11. his year 2013 AD, is the 100th Anniversary of St. Peter's Anglican Church in Sabie, Mpumalanga.T

The Church's Centenary will be formally celebrated on 30 June 2013.The early history of St. Peter's church is somewhat obscure, but which might well date back to the 1886 visit by the Rev. A Roberts, who while on his way from Pilgrim's Rest to Lydenburg via Spitzkop, called at H. Glynn Snr's abode, where he spent the night. Rev. Roberts was one of the few Anglican priests in the Transvaal at the time, and was appointed by Bishop Bousefield to minister to the congregations on the Lydenburg and Pilgrim's Rest Goldfields.H.T. Glynn, author of the book Game and Gold on his life and early days of those area, mentions having services every three or four months in the old days on the verandah at his

St. Peter's Church in Sabie CentenarySabie home Huntington. These services were held for many years. It was at one of these occasions that Bishop Furze and H.T. Glynn discussed ways and means of raising funds to build a churchThe first church records date from 1912 when on April 21 a meeting was held to form the first Church Council. H.T. Glynn was appointed Vicar's Warden, a position he held until his death in 1928.Fund raising had already started; dances, plays, tennis parties and collection boxes were the order of the day. A plot of ground had already been donated by Glynn's Lydenburg mine, the largest in the district, while H.T. Glynn donated a piece of ground himself for a one roomed rectory. It was decided to erect both buildings at the same time.When the Rev. Maurice Ponsonby arrived as rector of Pilgrim's Rest and Sabie in 1912, he approached Sir Herbert Baker for plans for the Church. When these became available, tenders were called for the construction. A Mr. Gemignani quoted 400 Pounds Sterling for the building of the walls (which needed 20 bags of cement). The carpentry work quote was for 145 Pounds Sterling. Both the quotes were accepted and construction work began in 1913. The foundation stone was laid by H.T. Glynn with the Rev. Ponsonby officiating.The original design of the Church featured a thatched roof, but it was agreed to alter this to wood shingles. The stone used for the building was quarried locally, and was what was left over from the building of a bridge over the Sabie River.The project proceeded successfully. By June 29 1913, the completed project was dedicated by Bishop Furze.

Gifts of furniture, carpets etc, came in from many quarters. The Arcadia Church Council donated the lecturn, while Rev. Ponsonby and friends donated the pews which had been designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Mrs. Glynn and Mrs. Damant donated the Altar.Rev. Ponsonby left St. Peter's in August 1914 to be succeeded by Rev. Carlisle. Services were held in Sabie twice monthly. The Rector traveled on horseback and stayed in the small rectory. Eventually the Rector went on active service in 1916, and until his return in 1918 services were held by laymen and visiting priests, with an annual visit by Bishop Furze. Rev. Carlisle resigned from the St. Peter's parish at the end of 1919. He was followed by a succession of priests up until the present day, all of whom left their mark and influence on the congregation and parish of St. Peter's.During the incumbancy of Rev. Lewis Jones a choir was started, a new organ was purchased, the beautifully carved altar (designed by Ms. Batisse and carved by the Toweel carpenters) presented by Ms. Glynn and family in memory of the late H.T. Glynn, and then the existing altar rails designed and presented by a parishioner. The sanctuary lamp was donated by Mr.& Ms. E.C. Simmons in memory of their infant son Godfrey. The attractive lych-gate was added through the generosity of Ms. Langley, wife of the Rev. W.T.V. Langley. The name in the lych-gate was carved and presented by Edward Flint.In 1964 the Andrew family donated the 4 candelabras. During the ministry of Rev. Ron Wakeling the stained glass windows, designed by Mr. Theo Theron and donated by the parishners were installed.St. Peter's is the 2nd oldest congregation as well

as the 2nd oldest church building in the parish. The oldest church is St. Mary's at Pilgrims Rest 1884.St. Peter's Church, a cameo of history, has become a tourist icon on the Panorama Route being visited by many interested passers-by.
