Patients consent to surgery because they trust their

surgeons.

They have the feeling of safety to have you do to them!!

Empathy says, ‘I know something about how you feel; I was hungry once myself.’

But compassion says, ‘Friend, let’s go get something to eat.’

Effective communication is the key to enabling patients to make informed decisions

การสอสารทด

- รบฟงและเคารพในความคดเหนของผปวยและญาต

- ใหเวลาพอเพยงส าหรบการอธบายรายละเอยดของปญหาทางคลนกและทางเลอกของการรกษา

- รายงานความคบหนาหรอการด าเนนโรคในระหวางการรกษา (progress note)

- อธบายผลแทรกซอนเมอเกดขน และผลลพธทอาจเกดขนได และ

- กระท าการโดยทนทเมอผปวยอยในภาวะอนตราย

และกลาวขอโทษในเวลาอนเหมาะสม (apologize when appropriate)

1) - แสดงความสภาพและใหความเคารพตอคณะผรกษาตลอดเวลา

2) -ตองรายงานใหโรงพยาบาลทราบทนททมการเปลยนแปลงสถานทตดตอหรอเบอรโทรศพท

3) –ตองมาพบแพทยตามนด และตรงตามเวลานดหมาย หรอแจงใหทราบหากมการเปลยนแปลงหรอมาไมได

4) -ตองพจารณาถงผลลพธทเกดจากการปฏเสธการรกษา หรอไมกระท าตามค าแนะน า และตองยอมรบความรบผดชอบของการกระท านนๆ

5) -ตองแจงใหแพทยไดทราบถงประวตภมแพหรอการแพยาตางๆ

SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS• Peri-operative surgical care is undergoing a paradigm shift.

• Traditional practices such as prolonged pre-operative fasting (“nil by mouth from midnight”),bowel cleansing and the use of nasogastric decompression are being shunned.

• These, and other similar changes, have been formulated into protocols called Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) pathways.

• The Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland’s current recommendations on ERAS are summarised below :
